    Remote Control Range

I have had my Vudu since December and love it. I finally dropped my Netflix when I realized all the DVDs I had in my queue were available via Vudu. My trouble is the remote. It has never worked correctly. I get a response from the remote less than 20% of the time.

I tried fresh batteries and pairing it again with the box, but nothing worked. Today I realized the remote works fine when about 4 feet from the box. The antenna is installed correctly. What gives? I would like to use the remote from as far away as 12 feet from the box, but that is where I have the issues. I have a TIVO broadband receiver about a foot away. Could this be interferring with the Vudu signal? If so, is there a work around? Any other ideas? I've been so frustrated I've thought about trying Apple TV. Save me from Apple and help me make the Vudu work correctly!!!

Try reducing or increasing the sensitivity of the remote. It's under advanced settings.

Second, you could instead move to an infrared remote with the new IR dongle that is available.

I had tried increasing the sensitivity of the remote, but haven't tried the lower settings. I'll give that a try. Regarding the new remote possibilities, are they as good? I love the simple design of the Vudu remote.

You may want to try this. Re-seat the antenna and make sure it tight. Sometimes this solves the issue also.

If all else failes you may want to contact tech support:

Another thing to try is switching your remote to a different frequency. Inside the battery chamber you will find dip switches offerign 4 choices. It could be that something else in the area is conflicting with your current radio frequency.

YOU MUST REPAIR THE REMOTE after you change the frequency. Otherwise your Vudu won't see the remote.

In my experience, this may be the thing that has the most impact. I had problems on 1 of my 4 boxes. Since I was using all 4 frequencies already, I didn't have a spare one to try. Then I finally decided to "swap" the frequency on that box with one of the other ones and now they both seem to be working fine. I guess that certain environmental conditions don't affect all of the frequencies equally.

Given that there is a lot of devices operating in this band, you could have had something else in that location operating on the selected frequency. It's short range so you swap the frequencies around and then everything works.
