Not cool (possible VuDu image infringement)

OK - I'm probably blowing this out of proportion but Gizmodo's little mock-up of the new Blockbuster media box kinda rubs me the wrong way...

    http://gizmodo.com/378185/blockbuste...mer-this-month

I guess imitation is the greatest form of flattery but obviously some of the commenter's think it's the actual Blockbuster box.

Like I said, probably not a huge deal - Giz. does pull that a lot. But when you are trying to differentiate yourself in the marketplace like we (VuDu) are trying to do, then posts like this only serve to confuse the average consumer.

    OK, I'm off the soapbox.

**Edit - bah, n/m - upon further reflection this is totally not a big deal. I file it under the 'any press is good press' section...

Well I don't know what Vudu's ultimate strategy is. But the're sort of unique in that they provide both a hardware and content service for internet video distribution.

It wouldn't be a big strech for me to see Vudu (or even ATV) to use their hardware to become a licensed delivery platform for other content providers like Blockbuster and Netflix.

It also wouldn't be a big strech to see a buyout of Vudu as a short circuit way for someone like Blockbuster to jump into the market.

What I find harder to see is Blockbuster actually developing and selling their own hardware. To do that would create a significant lag time to deliver their service in an increasingly competive market.

I would think it would be a win for Vudu. Many startup ventures either hope for a successful IPO or a buyout as reward for their hard work and effort.

Make sure you excercise your stock options when you have the opportunity.

Yes, you are. This is typical of Gizmodo's lazy style of journalism. Let Vudu worry about it, not us. They should be more concerned about the competitive element, rather than graphics.

Gizmodo does stuff like that all the time. The image is an obvious joke.
