    Marvin,

Per our agreements with each of the major motion picture studios, the viewing window will range from a 24 hr viewing period to 48hrs. I do apologize for the inconvenience and would be happy to take a look and see if it's possible to add a credit so you can finish the movie.

Most people can read instructions before renting

When's the last time you returned a DVD to a Redbox 10 minutes late and weren't charged for an extra day?

The same thing has happened to my Parents when they rented a movie on Comcast. When the time period was up, it stopped in the middle of them watching it.

Don't get me wrong, I think we all know how frustrating it can be, but 24 hours is 24 hours, not 240 hours, not 25 hours, not 24 hours and 10 seconds. It would be nice if in situations like yours they found some way to allow the movie to continue play out but disabled pausing or rewinding, but by and large the studios are being dragged kicking and screaming into digital distribution anyway, and they treat "their" content like spoiled toddlers treat their toys.

My wife and I were confused by the 24 hours rental period as well. We saw 48hours somewhere, and thought that applied to all rentals. Nope. Transformers was only 24hours, which was very difficult for us to manage (parents of two young kids).
I dont' get it. I'm used to paying $5 to rent from Blockbuster, which is good for at least three days. I'm ok with paying $6 for a nice HD movie from Vudu, but not for just 24 hours. Sure, Redbox is just one day at a time as well, but its only a buck a day, so we can handle the extra one or two days.
We signed up with Vudu hoping it would be a good replacement for our cancelled Netflix DVD account, and the dying off of Blockbusters around us. Unless the 24hr restriction changes, we'll keep looking. Which is a bummer, because I love hte selection and the quality that Vudu offers.

I know there's little Vudu can do about this, but at some point, there has to be enough support for this that you can push back on the content providers for a change in policy.

The other night, the movie just wouldn't play (after I'd paid for it, of course), and kept telling me "can't connect to stream". I've rented movies before, so I know it works, generally, but it wouldn't work this time. I tried watching it the next day, after work, and it was fine, until it cut off 20 minutes from the end.

I grudgingly bought the movie--again--to see the end. If this were my fault, that's one thing. But technical issues--whether it's Vudu's fault, Boxee's fault, Comcast's fault, sunspots, wormholes, or unicorns is irrelevant. Stuff happens. The bottom line is, "24 hours" seems reasonable, until you talk about people who have family commitments, jobs, school, and a dozen imperfect technologies that all have to cooperate at the same time to be able to watch what we just paid money for.

I have always paid for the content I consume. But the content providers have pushed, pulled, coerced, threatened, and limited their content so much that I'm done trying to play by their, ever-changing, rules. If they won't provide reasonable access to their content, I'm pretty sure I can find it elsewhere.

Again, I know this isn't Vudu's fault entirely. But I'm hoping someone at Vudu will at least read this. I'm pretty sure no one at Sony cares.

You should have called customer service after having viewing issues. They could have dealt with it so you would not have had to purchase it again. Any VOD system will take car of you if there are issues like that. At least that has been my experience with the service providers I've used for pay as you go viewing.

For the 24 hour viewing, it's always been this way. Vudu is almost four years old now. Although at least from some studios they are offering 48 hour viewing times. But If they really wanted to do something to change it the studios would offer something like a 30 hour viewing period. Which would cover 2 evenings for people. But they just don't want to implement anything like that.
