    Re: 48 Hour Rental Period

I have heard that some of the pritated pre-release stuff is perfect quality - not a recorded screening. I think it would be easy to tell. So I think there are people inside who leak this stuff.

What about for the people like me that don't watch DVDs(except for the rare occasion for something like Stargate SG1: The Ark of Truth.)Still waiting for the HD version on VUDU. It's already available on Xbox Live in HD.

The Ark of Truth was released by MGM on April 11 for VOD services. Now when I look at the list of studio's that VUDU has releationships with I don't see MGM. I know I've seen MGM moives on the VUDU like "A Christmas Story" but now these are gone. I am sending a eamil to VUDU right now to find out what is the deal with MGM content.

        Thanks for the tickler....

Thanks for doing that. MGM also has all the really cool remastered HD versions of James Bond movies and Alfred Hitchcock movies too.

Unfortunately, MGM is the one and only studio that VUDU does not have contracts with. Hopefully that will change in the future.

That's exactly what I love about this forum, it's flexible and free flowing and I think some bad may have occasionally come from it, but also a lot a good discussion and ideas have resulted too.

I recommend the best place on this forum for Guy Gadois to go if he wants to stay on topic is to post on the "Off Topic Thread".

I'm fairly certain that Hagen and the other engineers are to blame for this, because they have made the VUDU box work so well, there just isn't a whole lot to complain about.

And we really can't talk a whole lot about future features because only Shultzy knows what they are. And guess what..............

Getting back to the original idea, I think it's very good. I know, I had to re-rent several movies because of the 24-hr window and having some sort of discount would be great. Having said that, I don't know if it'd be simple to do without having content companies sign off on that. It's likely that there are clauses in Vudu's contracts that set pretty rigid rules on pricing.

The 24 hour period should be the regular price and the 48 hour period should be the 24 hour rate plus their cost of a 24 hour period. For example, if they charge $3.99 for a movie and the cost is $1.50 then the 24 hour period is $3.99 but a 48 hour period is $3.99 plus $1.50 = $5.49.

Granted this may be a goofy idea. But what the hell, it's an idea.
How'd you like how quickly this got implemented!
