I just did a rough count on Xbox Live. They have around 170 to 180 HD movie titles. They also have alot of TV titles with alot of HD content.

So I guess 30 days after the DVD release, a movie is considered catalog and not new? OK. If that's your definition of new, then yeah, Vudu's not right for you.

Hmm... I see. I'm surprised Vudu hasn't kept pace with ATV.

So you are saying that you get something close to the selection of older movies on the premium channels? You must have way better premium channels than are available to me.

I have asked Vudu. The response was that they add HD titles as they get them from the studios. So it's not that Vudu is holding back HD titles and not wanting to release them. Why ATV, XBox, DirecTV, etc. gets HD titles and Vudu doesn't is something they have no control over.

As stated before, if you are unhappy because you don't get enough HD titles on your Vudu right now, return it. It's going to change a lot in the next 6 months. If you were here six months ago, you'd see people complaining that the latest new releases weren't available. Well, that's no longer the issue. I would bet that in six months there's going to be a lot more HD content available.

So - do you keep the box and enjoy it or return it and come back in 6 to 12 months and buy it again?

Out of the 40 most watched movies, 6 are HD 15%

Out of the 40 new to Rent 3 are HD 8%.

I could understand if the HD was not available for these titles but that's not the case. I'd like to watch a movie in the best possible format I can. And for a buck more and sometimes same price I can watch HD at other providers.

I understand VUDU SD is great, I even said so myself in a thread. But the fact that 3 of their new releases are available in HD is a deal breaker for me.
