    To Rent or to Purchase

Since I got vudu last summer, I've been wondering whether I should buy a movie, or if I should just rent it. I'd hate to buy a movie I've never seen, only to find out that the closing credits weren't close enough to the opening credits. On the other hand, I wouldn't like to rent a movie for $6, decide I want to buy it, and then have to pay $15 or $20 more. I could have skipped the rental, and just bought it. Would it be possible to implement a purchase option that included the rental fee towards purchase? Maybe for a time after a movie is watched, there'd be an option to buy the movie for the regular price minus the rental price.

    Jeff,

I'd be happy to pass this request on to the proper people. Great feedback, thank you.

I'd definitely be more likely to buy after renting, and more likely to use Vudu rather than buying discs, if this was implemented.

This sounds like a really nice option to have. It would be cool if VUDU could come out with the option to do this before any one else. From what I've read and maybe it's not enough about other services, but I don't think any one offers something like this do they ?

What a great idea, even if it was only a percentage credit towards the movie purchase. I would be much more willing to rent a movie and know that if I liked it I could buy it with a discount. This would change the game, hope Vudu does it before Amazon.

Yep, this is a great idea. I been having the same feelings lately about Battleship and Snow White, WWJD .

I was thinking of options about the credit limit. Why can't the credit limit past 5 be used only for rentals instead of buying. That way your not limited to just 5 codes. This makes perfect sense and I know there is a thread about it but the limit could be raised and be converted to rental only.

Just looking into this thread now and the original version of VUDU allowed a rental credit if you purchased the movie. I would like to know if this is still the case or this benefit was discontinued since the service was sold?

I've been with Vudu since day one, and this was never a feature that they offered.

So I just started using VUDU a couple of days ago, and this concept immediately occurred to me. Seems this thread was started over 2 years ago... too soon to ask for an update?

I just asked this question today to Anthony a supervisor and made a suggestion that if I rent I should have the rental period (48-72) hours to purchase that movie and my rental fee applied to the purchase price. If I don't purchase it within that 48-72 hours then I would be forced to purchase it at full price and be out the rental price as well.

All I can do is toss this suggestion out there and see what happens. VUDU... are you listening?!?!?!?
