Where can this be purchased? If my girlfriend goes ahead and gets Fios, I might take my second box over to her house so we can view some movies there. Tis wireless solution would be perfect, for her situation and i could remove the ethernet powerline adapters.

I guess to answer my own question, I see it's already for sale on the VUDU site.

It would have been nice to receive a newsletter from VUDU about this, instead of reading it on Gizmodo.

          Re: VUDU Gets Wireless

I am not surpised that Giz complained about Vudu not having wireless in the first place, but I am suprised he complained (or appeared to complain) about the price of the kit. $79 is pretty darn cheap for TWO pieces (e.g. for Sonos, it's not a kit -- you have to purchase them separately).

Anyway, I left a comment on there (under same nick), but if anyone cares to correct/add to it, feel free to do it.

A commented on EngadgetHD's post pointed out that Vudu's wireless adapter looks very much like this one -- http://usa.asus.com/products.aspx?l1...10&modelmenu=1

Well, you can see the Asus logo at the top of ours.

Right, I think he was trying to say that it's not a new product per se. Myself, I'd guess that Vudu customized some stuff, like powering #2 unit through the USB port on Vudu.

Yeah, I can't say much, but it works a lot differently than the regular Asus model. It is pretty obvious that we OEM'ed it from Asus though.

I tested one of these wireless kits a few months ago and it worked perfectly. It is also the easiest setup I have ever used for a turnkey wireless solution for something like Vudu or a gaming station.

I can honestly say that I knew nothing about this! OK, I knew it was coming, but didnt' know when and I did not beta test it as I really don't have a need as both my boxes are hardwired...

So Hodge - I'm not in the loop on everything!

We are disappointed. Now, we'll need to find another person to torture for information

                          Re: VUDU Gets Wireless

I have what I assume is the same adapter and have been successfully using it with Vudu for a few months:
                          http://www.zatznotfunny.com/2008-06/...-accessory-79/

Mine came individually, but selling them as a pair is pretty smart - it SHOULD mean zero config with everything ready to go out of the box. Though, as far as wireless bridges go - ASUS's stock software was pretty simple to set up on my network.

Can the VUDU wirless device be used with other components? can I put the output of one end into an Ethernet switch so i can connect to multiple devices? Or will it only work with the VUDU box?

I believe it's a true Ethernet bridge, so it should work if you interconnect two switches with it.
