    Re: Free Bourne Movies Gone?

The last day to get the Bourne HD movies for free was May 31st. They posted this on the website. I don't know how the dealers were notified.

Unfortunately, yes. The Bourne promo ended on May 31st. The news was posted on our website and your sales reps should have informed you as well. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Unfortunately, it was a limited time offer. Hopefully Vudu will get some other cool promos soon. Always good stuff going on though. This box will always continue to get better!

I feel your pain -- I bought a second box and missed getting Bourne movies by a few weeks. Fortunately, I got all 3 movies on my first box.

Also, Bourne Ultimatum is not available right now (at least, as of a week ago). Hopefully, it'll come back as it's probably one of the best ways to show off your audio set-up

Without at least one free movie, it makes it difficult to market the box to potential buyers. Sort of like being a car salesman and told that the cars on the lot don't have gas in them. You can sit in them and touch the knobs and see the shiney buttons, but you can't drive it.

The question that Vudu should ponder is....did it really cost them something to distribute the free movies during the promo period? ie: were they really losing money on the deal? And if they were to simply provide 1-2 free movies to each qualifying dealer, whould there be a significant hit (ie: in the red) to the bottom line. or would the benefits of sharing the d/l (download) movie with nationwide salesman (such as installers and retailers) far out weigh the minor expense (if any) of the movie(s)?

            Hmmmmm......

I've got 2 boxes just "sitting on the lot"....to one wants to test drive them yet (I'm even hesitating to buy my first movie !).

Huh? Vudu has a 30 day no questions asked refund policy. There are lots of free movies that you can rent and the rotation changes weekly. For TV shows, the first episode of a series costs 50 cents.

I don't think you need a free movie that a number of people may or may not be interested in to sell the box.

The Bourne movie was a promo that was part of a deal with Universal Studios. It sure does cost Vudu money to give away a movie with every box sold. In this case, there was an arrangement with the studio.

I don't think that you can compare this at all to a car w/o gas.

                Re: Free Bourne Movies Gone?

Why doesn't Vudu just give dealers/installers some Vudu bucks so they could purchase one of HD movies (two Bournes and third one, if it returns) on the demo box(es)? Since Vudu is portable, an installer/dealer could just hook up the demo box to show it off, right?

First off, the movies are no longer available for purchase. So they can't be purchased. But that said, there certainly should be a way for a dealer to provide new customers with a certain number of Vudu bucks. I would imagine that if a dealer called up customer service and wanted to give their client $50 in Vudu bucks that it could be done.

I know the last Bourne title was pulled, but when I was hooking up my second box a few weeks ago, the first two were still available for purchase at $19.99. Have they been removed too?

But to get to other point, I think we asked Vudu for ability to buy Vudu Bucks for other people, didn't we?

Since I own the first two on both my boxes, I have no way of knowing for sure! :-)

Yeah, it's been requested. I don't know for sure but a call to customer service might be able to make things happen on a case by case basis. Certainly, I think a dealer could do it for a new box. Cripe, for that matter, just give the guy a $50 discount on the purchase and install of the Vudu...
