    Prometheus

    Is anyone receiving the following notice "Unable to stream this movie at the moment due to a network error. Please try again a little later"?

    I purchased Prometheus earlier this evening, and of course, now I'm receiving the noted message and I can't watch my movie. I spent my $14.99 to watch it tonight (apparently, today was the first day a consumer could buy it). I checked my checking account and of course, the money has been decucted already.

    Is anyone aware if VUDU is experiencing "network" issues? Has their site crashed?

    If you're unable to watch your owned movie, please contact our support team. There are a number of steps we can take to help prevent buffering. Each network is a little bit different, so it is usually a good idea to contact an agent directly for help. http://www.vudu.com/support.html?supportPage=home

      Having the same problem as OP

      Network speed test is fully to the top

      Dan's response is appreciated but not terribly helpful since it takes you to a generic support page with no info about this problem and no direct contact info except email

        Spent time on the phone with an extremely unhelpful CSR at VUDU who's best help for a solution was to power cycle my player, then power cycle the modem/router.

        No big surprise, the problem persists - and yet I demonstrate max-out speeds on the VUDU connection speed test.

        So I gave up, got a refund, and now watching Prometheus in 1080p thru my apple tv via iTunes.

        Talk about a complete failure of a first experience with vudu...

          Having problems here with Prometheus as well.

          I'm running VUDU via an Oppo Blu-ray player with current firmware. I get >10Mbps and have no issues with Netflix. I watched the Prometheus extras in HDX with no problem, the same with about 20 minutes of Mission Impossible 4.

          When I try to watch the film Prometheus, it always starts about 10 minutes in and then when I try to go back to Chapter 1, I get the network error message.

          I can't watch any of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.

          I even reset VUDU on the Oppo.

          Good thing I'll be getting the blu-ray in a few weeks.

            yes there is some VUDU going on at VUDU. I too have and am experiencing the same situation. I discussed with there tech support, bear in mind i have a net gear router in my media room that mirrors my router downstairs but doubles speed and I have a full PEG on the meter, however i still can't watch this movie?

            come on guys. I even call OPPO the manufacture of my Blu Ray these folks have incredible customer service they tested their machine with VUDU but could not duplicate the problem.

            I don't know how many times they tested it. I just tried to watch the movie again, it started to play so i after several minutes of it play in HDX i thought, ok to be on the safe side since it is finally playing after a day and half of messing with it, i switched to to SD mode for lowest data rate download to be safe. of course after i did this , i recieved the error message again.

            I have turned off my player, unplugged lots of internet items rebooted this and that and still this thing is not working properly. I have not had this problem with any other movies on VUDU and love the entire VUDU concept.

            There has to be an answer. I guess i will atttempt to call customer service see if they will refund my money or perhaps they can switch it on their end for me to SD mode and maybe just maybe i can watch Prometheus then?

              As I noted before, I can stream Prometheus just fine at 1080p on my Apple TV.

              Maybe it has something to do with the wireless adapter thru the Oppo - but running the network speed test thru the VUDU app on the Oppo max's out and it tells me HDX is recommended.

              Regardless, based on this experience, it looks like VUDU isn't reliable enough to warrant spending any further money on them. Plus, their customer service was a joke.

                I didn't buy Prometheus, but something is wrong today. I've never had an issue getting full 15 Mb/s in Vudu speed test and today speed test doesn't work because of "network problems". I'm trying to download Cabin In The Woods because streaming won't go past SD and the download is at 0.6% after 2 hours. I'm getting 25 Mb/s into my house and Netflix an Amazon movies are working just fine at HD on my PS3.

                  Just to give others with similar issues an update:

                  I have yet to call Vudu support (I simply haven't had time during business hours) but tried the following:

                  Switching from DHCP to static IP on the Oppo.
                  Switching from using the router IP as DNS to manually entered DNS
                  Reverting the router (Netgear WNDR3700) to firmware more favorable to blu-ray devices (according to a number of forums)

                  After testing these, Netflix works fine as before and I can watch several minutes of MI4 and Dragon Tattoo in HDX via Vudu.

                  However, Prometheus still stops after only a minute or so with a network error alert.

                    I also have an oppo player and I'm unable to play Prometheus but I'm able to play this title on my other vudu enabled devices.

                    I've contacted oppo and they had the same issue trying to play this title on their end. I've been told that an oppo engineer has e-mailed VUDU to try to solve this issue.

                    I have also contacted vudu and have a case in progress. I haven't heard anything back yet. This appears to be an issue on oppo's end but I don't know enough to be sure. Hopefully between the two of them the problem can be solved.

                    My work around will be to temporarily connect my audio system directly to my TV and use VUDU from there.

                        I posted once here yesterday after joining and spoke about network issues. Let's see if this post makes it.

                        This morning (6:30 am EDT) network problems were gone - 15 Mb with speed test. Now it's back to the slowness again. Speed test gets 2.5 Mb. Looks like some sort of capacity issues or something.
