Ah yes the rumors started by the folks at engadget...but for some reason they couldn't work in the announcements:

The way I interpret it is that dealers and installers will only have access to XL inventory, whereas the standard box will remain available in Best Buy and such. From CE Pro:
As of October 1, says Donnigan, Vudu is pulling it out of the custom A/V channel, "all because we're trying to further provide dealers with products that they can make money on, rather than race to zero against Best Buy."

This is correct. The X100 will still be available through retail channels.

I really wish Engadget would update their article. They even got direct confirmation from VUDU in the comments that this was wrong.

More important are the facts that phone support may be only for dealers/installers and not consumers and that some new features maybe XL-only (they were kinda vague on that though).

            As I have said before:

            Engadget and Gizmodo = HACKS.

Anyone who trusts them for news is well....dumb.

Why let the facts stand in the way of a good story?

They actually do tend to update the stories when stuff like that happens. Maybe they're too busy mourning the departure of Ryan Block.

The 250gb X100 is not going anywhere -- It will continue to be available through retail channels and on vudu.com.
