Just got back and had to do three transactions to make sure the order was correct. The guy still screwed me but its ok. Instead of them being 1 > 2 > 3 they are 3 > 2 > 1.

Also you can bring in a list of movies and they do not have to convert them all at one time. If they expand the left pane window that the list shows in, there is a button that lets them select certain movies next to the title name on the far right.

Every other person told me they had to do the whole list.

Wow, I had kind of been waiting to see if there was a D2D from home eventually, but this will probably get me into a Walmart for the first time in decades!

    Hi buddy,

Thank you for your response. Seriously dude you need to be the HDX spokes person I agree with you I love the HDX files. Hopefully some of the Ultraviolet/streaming haters will realize its awesomeness. There is another thread where Jake I thought mentioned that the extended versions were being encoded in HDX and available for D2D. I have the set on blu-ray already so I am not going to run out and repurchase them on blu-ray but after your glowing review purchasing the ultraviolet versions is a thought if they are not going to be available on D2D.

Did you get the extended versions through D2D or purchase them directly through Vudu?
    Hi JohnMac,

I actually redeemed these three extended LOTR movies using the UV codes that come in the individual blu-ray releases. If you've read through this thread, when the UV codes were originally redeemed, they appeared here on Vudu in SD quality (eeuueeww). We were all SHOCKED when suddenly and without notice, Fellowship of the Rings automatically upgraded to HDX! Several weeks later Two Towers upgraded to HDX. We're expecting Return of the King to follow the same path.

As brilliant as LOTR looks and sounds on blu-ray, I did the D2D on the three theatricals to get those HDX files. They look okay, but appear somewhat jittery to me. Perhaps my internet connection had a hiccup the day I checked them out.

The HDX versions of the extended Fellowship and Two Towers appear much better to me than the theatrical HDX files.

As for audio quality, the HDX files of the extended Fellowship and Two Towers are most impressive. My subwoofer roars to life often and the surround speakers are quite active. Very nice for a streaming file, but as expected, still not the same audio quality as on the blu-rays.

As you can tell, I am a serious fan of HDX files. They will only get better and better as the technology evolves.

Hmmm, could Vudu and HDX be considered the earliest manifestation of what will eventually become SKYNET!?

Re: HDX -- The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (Extended Edition)

Last night I started viewing the HDX file of the extended The Lord of the Rings Two Towers. I believe that Fellowship has a slightly better conversion. However, Two Towers is quite good -- if not excellent.

I could see every pore and hair on King Aragorn's mesmerizing face. Same for Gandalf The White. It's not the same level as blu-ray PQ, but for streaming HDX, it is impressive and blows the oldray DVD out of the water.

Two Towers Extended Edition is about 4 hours long (JAWDROP!). I could only make it through the first 2 hours last night, then I got sleepy and went up to bed. I hope to watch the rest of Two Towers on this snowy stormy tonight.

Looking forward to Return of the King (extended) in HDX.

The UV codes for the Extended LOTR movies are available in the three individual blu-ray releases for these movies (not in the trilogy box set).

When I redeemed my UV codes, they all came through in SD quality (poo-poo!). Not long afterwards, the first extended movie: Fellowship of the Rings was magically upgraded to HDX quality. Whoo hoo! I watched it and it is a stunning transfer.

Every day I check my Vudu collection hoping to find HDX versions of the extended Two Towers and Return of the Kings. From what I have read on this forum, those HDX transfers are underway. I hope we all eventually get free HDX upgrades for the last two EE LOTR movies like we did for Fellowship. Nothing would be more awesome!

I have watched the extended Fellowship on Vudu (on the 55-inch LG Cinema Display) and it is absolutely gorgeous in HDX. Rich color, very sharp - the conversion is exceptional. The AQ is breathtaking for what it is (my favorite sound cotex is DTS HD Master Audio which we frequently get on blu-ray discs).

Having seen this first EE LOTR film in HDX has me drooling to see the next two in HDX. I hope the studio comes through.
