WHEN will HD content be available?

I've seen various threads here where HD has come up. The response has always been It's coming. It'll be here sooner rather than later. Relax, they're working on it. Be patient, it's coming.

    WHEN IS HD COMING?

This (HD content) is what's needed to make vudu a smashing success. HD Movies, without the need for an expensive bluray or hd-dvd player will make vudu a household name. (Assuming of course vudu gets same day DVD releases.)

I'd even go so far as to say HD Movies (same day DVD releases) would make the vudu box worth the $400 price of admission.

Is HD really coming? If so,

    WHEN

Re: WHEN will HD content be available?

This sounds like "Are we there yet?" being asked by passengers in a car. My guess is that they can't answer exactly when and it is better to be a little vague and then do a "tada", rather than coming out with some date and then disappointing those who set expectations unreasonably high for stuff like this. You know who you are. I'm aslo betting that when they do come out with it, the same people who are complaining about the current selection will just complain even louder that not enough titles are HD.

My concern with the HD isn't about timing, it is about the network impact. We have already seen people who supposedly have sufficient network bandwidth but the Vudu box doesn't think so. This will make that worse, perhaps greatly so. Add to that Comcast's threats to slow down file sharing traffic and that could generate a lot of bad press. It isn't clear that would be a solvable problem either.

I expected to tear up my Blockbuster card and I'm dissapointed that I can't yet. Yes the collection will grow with time - but will the studios bend enough to allow more same day releases by Vudu. That option may never come, but I'm hopefull that market pressure will eventually win out.

I'm in the minority in that I don't care about HD right now, just as long as I can rent the most recent movies. So we're not whining because we like to ... sniff .... sniff ...

It seems like we want the same thing. I just didn't expect to be able to abandon the DVD just yet. I would have been amazed if it were that good in what can only be described as its infancy.

              I see the answer.

              Congrats Vudu.

Now, someone just tell me the HD content is DD5.1 or better and I'll place my order.

HD content is indeed in 5.1. At least every one I've seen has been.

Yeah, "Vampire Dentist" in HD. Woo-hoo.

I can hardly wait (sarcasm). Will HD movies be available for purchase only or rent (2009)? 'Cause nothing says useless like a purchased HD movie filling up a VUDU box with no way to archive it off.

                  Awesome business model, boys.

CJohn17 - Trolls aren't welcome here. If you want to come in and just insult Vudu then please, take it to some other forum. This is a forum for customer and people to have intelligent discussions. The press release has been made. I can GUARANTEE you that there will be many titles in addition to your Vampire movie that will be in HD (in fact the Vampire movie might not make it to HD).

From your comments about HD filling up the box, I can tell you don't have a Vudu and you have NO idea how the system works.

Again, if you want to be a troll and take pot shots, please take those elsewhere.

I am not getting the Nuvo until HD widely available.

Right now i get 35 hours of "Watch Now" SD to view on my HTPC/HC-5000 with my Netflix in addition to the constant fast turnaround of 3xBD/HDDVDs for $16/mo.

I will get the nuvo soon i hope. Beats TiVo hands dwon IMHO>
