    HDX not necessarily HDX

Ok, minor quibble, and unintentional...I bought a dvd at walmart with a bonus code for another movie at vudu (no titles listed, figured it would be the typical B movies like with the 5 free for D2D) and it was. I chose Weekend at Bernies 2 (don't laugh) and it added to vudu and UV as an HDX title.
The problem is that the picture quality is incredibly poor, like watching a VHS on a 1080 display with snow, color disruptions, etc present. All of the sd titles I have are better quality than this. So my question, why put it as an HDX when the quality from the studio is no where near HD? It's almost like they recorded the vhs feed to the HDX file and are calling it HDX. Hopefully just a fluke and not a precursor of older movies being added in this manner going forward.

In my experience, all of the HDX files I have offer extremely excellent picture quality. Sound quality isn't always 5.1, but many times it is.

IMO, the PQ of HDX files rivals that of HD TV broadcasts, but it isn't quite as good as blu-ray.

Perhaps your Weekend at Bernies 2 has a poor encode to HDX. How do your other HDX files look?

In my experience of owning both DVD and Blu-ray movies. As well a VUDU HDX movies which are streamed in 1080p aspect ratio. Is really nothing more but up scaled DvD quality making Blu-ray the more superior picture quality available to this day. Either way HDX in my opinion is the best way to stream HD content. Yet it does not compare to the superior image quality of Blu-ray disks. Although it is convenient to stream HD content via device. It is also wise to own the physical copy just in case one day the host closes shop or one does not have Internet access.

All of my other HDX titles look normal, some are a little grainy but that is probably due to the quality of their original recording a few decades ago. This one was so bad....just surprised at how poor the quality was...at least it was free.

If you get a chance, try viewing the copy of Domestic Disturbance on HDX. The video quality is pretty bad for 1080p but it probably has to do with the original recording?

The HDX in my opnion is pretty good.. I've done some direct comparisons and in most cases its darn close to bluray. I did check out Weekend at bernies 2 a while back and yeah it's pretty bad.. just looks like the dvd upscaled... they will probably release a new version sometime though. Also One that is not too good is "Dark Night Rises" .. I thought it looked ok after buying it.. but I decided to torrent a version online and the quality of that one is way better than the HDX version.. in fact I think it must be the IMAX version because it switches back and forth throughout the movie from full frame 16:9 to the 2.35:1... the full frame 16:9 looks insanely good.
