Use CinamaNow to add new UV titles to VUDU!

I just added my first UV title to CinamaNow using their VERY COOL Disc to Digital program!

"3:10 To Yuma" is a UV title and VUDU has this title. BUT, they don't have it available for D2D for some reason. I found this title on CinamaNow so I decided to give this a try.

I downloaded and installed the CinamaNow Player and updated my credit card info in my CinamaNow account (I have not used CinamaNow in a couple of years). Once installed I inserted my DVD into the DVD drive in my laptop and converted it from the comfort of my own home.

A few seconds later the title appears in my UV account...then a few seconds after that it appeared in my VUDU account (which is ultimately where I want it).

Something else that CinamaNow has that VUDU doesn't is an actual list of all titles available for D2D.

    VERY NICE!!!

However, I have to say that I think their website really SUCKS compared to VUDU. It's VERY slow and they too lack sorting and filtering on their website too.

Interesting. What stops people from sharing the same DVDs to convert them? I'm referring to the way WalMart stamps the DVD. They're not serialized, are they?

Nothing! Not even with Walmart since they don't stamp the movies, even if they did you can always remove the stamp with a little rubbing alcohol.

What is to stop people from sharing their VUDU or CinamaNow accounts? I have accessed my Vudu account at my parents house before so my kids could watch a movie while we were visiting. Sort of the same thing as sharing DVDs if you think about it.

Kind of, but not really. I've been know to bring my own physical movies elsewhere so my kids could watch them at another house.

I loan my DVDs to family members for them to either watch or convert to digital in their own account...or we all convert movies we own into the SAME account and we all share the same account. Same difference...same results.

Of course I have no plans to share my account...but I am sure that people are already doing this kind of thing already.

I didn't pay too much attention at the time because it didnt apply to me, but I do remember some kind of talk something about letting different people link accounts together. If I'm not mistaken, the end result was combining collections. Do you know what I'm remembering?

Yes. You can actually add up to 5 "members" to your UV account. Each "member" has a name and password that they would use to link their VUDU or CinamaNow account to. This sort of makes UV the hub for your movie locker and all movies in that locker are shared.

What is NOT shared are rentals and purchases of titles that are not UV.

Less than a minute. I've done about 15 and had them right away and purchased 1 movie from cinema now and it showed up right away.

I've used it for 5 films now - Dave Chappelle's Block Party, Full Contact, Snakes on a Plane, Clash of the Titans (2010), and Tom & Jerry: The Movie.

The first two were lessons learned - Block Party was SD-only with CinemaNow and is HDX in Vudu, and Full Contact is English-only (despite Cantonese being the original language)...with both, you need to check what Vudu offers before giving your money to CinemaNow.

The next two went off without a hitch, but I did Tom & Jerry: The Movie a couple of hours ago and it still has yet to show up in my Vudu account.

If it goes beyond 24 hrs in my mind, do you Corinthos or any one know of a way to get it pushed to show up in Vudu? I thought I remember reading some where a way to either request Vudu to pull in the rights from UVVU for that movie to show up in your account?

If there's a way to do that, I'd love to know, as last time Vudu's customer service just told me to go talk to Flixster to update their codes. Flixster of course never responded to my emails.

Every time you start the VUDU app on a device or log in/go to the VUDU website your UV locker is checked for new content. So if you are not seeing it on VUDU, UV is not reporting that it's in your locker (that could be a Flixster or UV issue).

Thanks Jake. So probably the best thing to do then would be shoot off an email to UV and make sure they are reporting it is in my locker to at least Vudu ?
