Please stop using Flash for video playback.

I would like to recommend that vudu switch to HTML5 or microsoft siverlight instead of flash for video playback. Flash has a tendency to crash a lot. HTML5 is now being used by netflix and youtube.

Flash doesn't even work on my (older) Mac computer. That's why I bought a Roku 2 for my home office.

If they did go this direction HTML5 would make better sense. I don't think Microsoft will continue SL beyond the current 5.0. As I understand it they too are looking to HTML5 instead.

Unfortunately, HTML5 is not an option until there is a decent DRM mechanism approved by the studios - the main reason for using Flash (beyond being reasonably portable between browsers and OSes) is the Access DRM support. In fact, approval of Access by most studios for HD content allowed VUDU to offer HD streaming on PCs.

Silverlight does support MS PlayReady DRM, but as you said it's unclear what MS plans are for it in the future...

          Thanks for the explanation Jake.

Forgive me for asking, but what is DRM?

Copy protection. DRM= Digital Rights Management.

So... being that Flash player has been fully discontinutued with no option for turning on in IE, Edge, Firefox, or Chrome, VUDU has become completely useless other that watching it on my little Android devices. I am thoroughly ****ed off. I paid money for movies. I cannot even access them on my TV thorugh my PC because browser support is shut off and the Vudu to Go app has stopped responding to my legitinate sign in credentials/won't log in. I am seriously ****ed off. Flash ios installed on PC but browsers have killed it. No options to enable either.

Vudu works on Chrome, just checked it out for myself. Make sure Flash is allowed to run from Chrome on sites.

                On your computer, open Chrome.
At the top right, click More More and then Settings.
At the bottom, click Show advanced settings.
                Under "Privacy," click Content settings.
Under "Flash," choose "Allow sites to run Flash."
                At the bottom, click Done.

Flash hasn't been disabled by any of the top browsers. Google Chrome includes it by default. The other browsers can play flash content if you install the plugin. I just tested IE 11 and can play vudu just fine, and I don't even have the player installed.
