Land of the Pharaohs (1955) is cropped from 2.55:1 to 1.78:1 with persistent green digital artifacts around the edge of the picture.

For this they need to get a new encode ASAP or at the very least add a new quality level 'VHS'

I just bought Buckaroo Banzai, and I can confirm that it's now OAR (2.35:1).

I don't know when they fixed it, but the video quality looks excellent.

Does anyone know if Spy and Mad Max: Fury Road, both from 2015, are in OAR?

Re: The "Incorrect Aspect Ratio" Thread

I just added 100 movies to my account before I saw this thread! Cave of the clan bear in in 4:3 letter box. It was in two versions on the DVD (wide screen and 3:4) how the 3:4 version is what is in VUDU. This movie was listed as wrong back in 2014 and it is still not fixed??????? I am very unhappy that I did not see this thread sooner. I have over 1300 movies on disk, I have just over 1000 on VUDU now! I was just getting to some of my older disks, now I am not sure I will complete conversion when I can began converting next year!!!

Re: The "Incorrect Aspect Ratio" Thread

Vudu for the most part is good with the correct aspect ratios. Of the 25 thousand movies they have about 300 titles are wrong. it has to be some jerk buying the codes to fit the rectangular wide screen tvs. This is done by the cable pay stations because the idiots think something is wrong with their tvs if there is a black bar around the image. Just the opposite. The sides are cut off and the image is stretched vertically. Complete crap.

Please get Blue Velvet in the original aspect ratio, Vudu.

Somewhat related, the SD version of Conan The Barbarian(1982) is 4 x 3 letterbox, which isn't really acceptable on HD displays. Vudu should give everyone who has the SD version HDX and delete the SD file.

With Flixster and CinemaNow closing up shop, it's really more frustrating than ever to have movies in a messed up aspect ratio when Vudu is essentially the only game in town.

Please fix Paint Your Wagon. For some odd reason the HD version displays as 4:3 with black bars. The movie was made in widescreen and displayed properly on Cinemanow before it died. I've complained about this to customer service but nothing has been done.

Glad that I checked. I almost bought it.
VUDU should be embarrassed to have a $13.99 "HDX" purchase option for this debacle.
