      Added!

I also found a few more movies that were cropped and added them. This list is getting pretty big.

Found this thread and am disappointed to find so many titles that have the wrong AR. I haven't had a chance to really watch anything streaming yet so I haven't paid much attention. Now that I know, I'll be keeping an eye out for messed up movies. Now, this applies to anything streaming in HDx, what about SD? I ask this because my laptop will not do HDx and the SD versions I've tried are all off on the AR. I'll have to test at home on the big screen thru the blu-ray player.

Unless otherwise noted, the aspect ratio problems are for both the SD and HD versions of the movies.

It's been nearly four months since I started this thread, and not a single one of these films have been fixed yet.

"The Wild Bunch" also has an incorrect aspect ratio, thankfully it's not egregious as "Ben-Hur", which is just plain horrendous

All (and prkprkprk in particular), I feel your pain. I've escalated the issue with the Ben-Hur title (An old favourite of mine and a classic that should have had the most blemishless presentation possible).

As prkprkprk had mentioned, I had sent out a private message. From it:
There are two issues - Presentation in non-OAR and stretching. Stretched out movies should be fewer - and is somewhat easier to solve. OAR sources are the norm, but the difficulty is making sure we didn't get the wrong source. Often, the problem is that there are a 100 subtly different sources because of all the combinations of aspect ratios and directors/new-updated-directors/theatrical/international/broadcast-tv cuts for a movie. Obtaining a tape/source is easy. Obtaining the *right* source can be a can of worms.
We are working on multiple solutions to this problem simultaneously - some are longer term solutions targeting our procurement workflow and others are short term fixes. I am, directly, researching automated means to flag suspicious movies. In addition, I am trying to work with the team to see if some changes to the UI are possible (like sample screenshots of the encodes along with the preview; this could allow our users to quickly notice issues). Will keep posting updates to this thread.

Yes! Thank you for moving to resolve "Ben-Hur"! I know it will make myself and many others on here very happy to watch it in its correct aspect ratio & excellent quality!

Re: The "Incorrect Aspect Ratio" Thread

                        Hi:

This thread is a valuable tool to keep one from purchasing movies which crop info otherwise available on other media. Thank you prkprkprk for starting it.

I was wondering if someone wanted to make one for non-original soundtracks. There are many titles I purchased that were both 5.1 surround in the theater/DVD and are in plain stereo on the Vudu version! This is basically the audio version of "non-OAR".

I hope Vudu would be interested in correcting this type of oversight as well.

                          A couple others

I just converted two DVDs to HDX and found the AR to be wrong. The two are classics. Lawrence of Arabia and Legends of the Falls. Both should be at least 2:35 but they're not. Legend is 16x9, just awful!

Thanks Blackburn for being so candid with your explanation. I think the easiest way to fix this problem is with forum members. No automated system will beat the sharp eyes of a rabid fan of a particular movie. If someone sees something amiss they will want to tell someone about it. That someone is YOU (VuDu). So, instead of trying to set a an automated system that will fail, you guys should set up an easier reporting system to let your fan base do the checking for you. It's a win-win so long as you're responsive to the reports. The last thing you want is to have someone tell you something only to be ignored. You'll want to fix the errors quickly or at least inform the reported that a fix is on the way, and how soon.

Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. SD version for sure 2.40:1 OAR 1.78:1 Vertical Stretched. Haven't checked HDx version yet. Not at home right now. Tall thin people and not the whole scene makes for funny watching.

Indiana Jones Digital bundle on sale now and being pushed on front page so thought it was fixed, but first two films still incorrect aspect ratio?!

Last two are correct. (2:35) but first two fill screen after opening credits. (2:35 to 1:78)

Unacceptable and I hope that others do not purchase the films until they get fixed ratios.
