Just curious, but if you can reach out to Warner Bros. to get the correct ratio so quickly for the Lego Movie, then can you add the Road Warrior and Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome to that? They are 1.85 here, but cinemanow and flixster have them both at the correct ratio of 2.35.1. It is just odd is all that they can send a file asap for a new title, but not for older films.

      Good question!!!

And how come several of the films that we're being told that the studios simply don't have the correct encodes to provide them with are encoded correctly on other Ultraviolet streaming services? Of the four major Ultraviolet services, Phantasm I and III and Revenge of the Nerds III and IV are correct on the other three.

I am guessing that because it's a new release they want to get it corrected ASAP so they don't lose money. It appears that the catalog titles do not matter to VUDU. It has become pretty clear that they do not care if they have correct aspect ratios for these titles even though we've paid to own or rent something that is not as advertised.

Re: The "Incorrect Aspect Ratio" Thread

Since Vudu says that the studios are not providing them with the proper encode, I'm thinking of taking matters into my own hands and calling the studios directly and demanding that they release the proper encodes to VUDU.

They say that the squeaky wheel gets the grease. I can be mighty squeaky at times.

Re: The "Incorrect Aspect Ratio" Thread

What's worse is that this thread is now one of the most viewed threads on the Vudu forums (Nearly 80,000 views!).

Obviously, Vudu knows of these problems. They are purposely ignoring these problems, which is disheartening to me. I've worked hard to maintain this thread and have put in a lot of time to keep users up-to-date, and yet I haven't gotten much of a response from the Vudu team about any of this. I'm honestly very disappointed and saddened by their lack of care.

                  Unacceptable.

Vudu's inability to secure the correct aspect ratios is truly horrifying. Why are the other services able to, but they are not?

Agreed. Absolutely horrifying. There's nothing worse in this world than incorrect aspect ratios.

AGREED !! The correct aspect ratio is probably the second most important thing when watching a movie, following a clear picture. It's so sad that we have to fight to see films as they were meant to be seen.

Dear Lord, don't tell me you're in favor of incorrect aspect ratios!! Do you prefer colorized movies, too?

You're right. I just watched it. It starts out correct in the credits, fooling you into thinking it's right, and then it switches into the wrong ratio.

                            Terrible......

Cropped aspect ratios are even worse on animated films. Someone had to take the time to animate that cropped out portion.

No, of course not, but saying it's "horrifying" is a bit of an overreaction in my opinion.
