    Re: Roku 3 now Available

When will 3D streaming be available through the Roku 3? I was very surprised to not see it as an option in the collections section. This is a huge deal for me, the WD TV Live has it, why not the Roku 3?

I can speak for Vudu, Roku, or anyone else can I can say the devices I've personally had that didn't have Vudu 3D out of the box, it was never added. I personally also look for 3D to start with. Unfortunately, the Vudu Devices section only list a handful of the devices that actually support 3D and it rarelly gets updated either, for some reason.

Specific to the Roku 3 this was my first Roku and I wanted to try one, especially with the new hardware and software. There was some things I liked about it, however, given that it was the same same price as a Blu-Ray player and didn't even have 3D Vudu I returned it the next day.

Yeah, I really like a lot of things about the Roku 3, the speed of the interface is amazing. Also, the services selection is outstanding. Unfortunately, it does not provide 3D in Vudu, and that's a huge deal. I'll stick with the WD TV Live...

I know I've said this a million time too but for $99 it doesn't offer more over a 3D Blu-Ray play or AppleTV. I admit $99 isn't a lot of money, and sure Roku has a nice interface (at least with the 3), but it just feels like overpaying.

I mean for the same money you can get an AppleTV that just feels solidly built, never seems to hick-up, doesn't need a wall-wart. Sure I know it's very limited and close system but you just feel like you're getting your money's worth. And for an Apple product that's rare.

Likewise for the same money I could also get a 3D Blu-Ray player with Apps. Again not the best equipment, and the worst interface of the bunch, BUT I get 3D Blu-Ray Playback when it's not on Vudu, or even UV. AND I get access to CinemaNow, Flixster, Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, Vudu (IN 3D), Pandora, MOG, and a bunch more. I get access to quite literally ALL the sources I need and in one box for $100. Having all that flexibility is just paramount for me which is why I have one in every room and have almost dropped DirecTV after over a decade there by cutting my monthly video bill in half.

Right, so if Vudu would support Roku 3, it would be the best black box of all! Minus BluRay disc support...
