    Sorting you collection in VUDU

I've been looking everywhere on the web for any indication that a future VUDU patch is in the works that will allow us to either sort our movies A-Z, by genre, or maybe even a drag and drop option that puts us fully in the driver's seat. Unfortunately I have not found any information at all. My digital collection is growing by the day as I convert my existing collection to the cloud. I enjoy the current interface but as my library grows it becomes more challenging to find what I'm looking for. Has anyone heard anything at all about more sorting options currently in the works?

    Thanks!

    Hello Anuksu,

We've filed a request for this feature. We'll make sure to update on the forums if we have anything to report.

Might be good to run a survey on sort/filter options. You have an active customer group here on the forums.

A sort function was added about 5-7ish months ago to devices. If you have a device (other than a computer), you can most likely sort the movies. I just own way too many and sorting doesn't help me very much =S

I need something that.... allows me to create groups of movies so that all my Batman movies are in one bundle, same with Saw, Harry Potter, LotR, Bourne, Marvel, Matrix, etc. Way too many collections =P

But, there already is a sort function. In some cases, there even is a sort function available for some select actors. It's pretty nifty

All my TV's are smart TV's with the VUDU app installed. They're all using the most up-to-date version (3.0.0) of VUDU. I've searched every nook and cranny of this app and believe me, the sort function is not there. So to be more specific, if we could get a search/filter option for the television apps, that would be FANTASTIC!

By the way, love the idea about creating groups. It would be helpful to sort our collections. Thanks!

Re: Sorting you collection in VUDU

Sorting has been added, but not on the website. We have sorting and filtering on every device we use EXCEPT for the computer (website). We need the ability to sort on the website as well.

We've been requesting the ability to organize our collection for months. My husband suggested a new tab called "My Collection" that would essentially allow us to create and name bundles under that tab and allow us to sort those bundles in any order we wanted.

We have been asking for a way to create our own bundles, or collections, and to group movies together however we want. For example, we want to create a "James Bond" bundle/collection and place all bond movies in that bundle, and another "Clint Eastwood" bundle and put all their Clint Eastwood movies in that bundle, then another called "Family Movies", and so on. We want to sequence the movies within the bundle and we want to name the bundle.

We would like to see a new tab added to "My Vudu" for "My Collections".

            _My Movies_________My TV_________My Collections_________My Wishlist_

Under this new "My Collections" tab we should be able to see all the bundles we've created and we should be able to create new bundles. We should also be able to sort the bundles under the 'My Collections' tab. These bundles could contain movies or television shows, and not necessarily titles that we own. Oh, and allow us to select only the movie and not any of the featurettes if we don't want those to show in our collection. Then when we are looking for a movie we could go to the new 'My Collections' tab, find the bundle we're looking for and click on it, then find the movie within the bundle and click on it to play (or to buy/rent if we don't own it).

You can stream your UV titles from a few services. Most people select who's service you will use based on availability, ease of use, and how well the service works. Pretty much everyone can stream a movie, so it's the apps and the functionality offered within the apps that most people are going to associate with a streaming service. If Flixter's app sucks then people will not want to use it. If CinemaNow is too slow loading titles then people will not want to use it. If Vudu makes it faster and easier to find a title then people will want to use them. I think that adding this functionality would GREATLY enhance the user's experience with Vudu.

Wow, that's very involved, but I love the idea. Based on your input, maybe it's the brand of TV that is the problem and the particular VUDU app that is being used for that TV. They're all Samsung. Is there anyone else reading this post that is also using a Samsung television to watch their movies and are you able to sort your collection? I would much rather sort my collection as mentioned above, but I would be happy enough just to get them in A-Z and as opposed to by purchase date.

We are using Vizio televisions, Vizio Blu-ray, Roku, and a Samsung Blu-ray player. They all allow sorting.

I have Vizio TV's, LG Blu-ray Player, and xbox's with sorting abilities. However, at my parents, I was just able to get there TV/BD player wired for internet, both Samsung (only about a year or two old) and both VUDU apps on those devices were not updated to have sorting

Something like a Netflix Queue would be a good start.

You can number your movies, and the movie with the first number would appear on the top of the list.

This would be great if it worked. I would really like to drag and drop in order to custom sort the movies. I'm approaching 300 and have no way to organize the movies using vudu.com or my Samsung Smart TV. It would be a huge help to sort them, even if it was similar to CinemaNow.

I hope VUDU doesn't do any like CinemaNow. I hate their interface and it's VERY slow.

I now have over 860 movies and it's very difficult to search for movies now. It takes too long to scroll through the list on my Vizio TV and it's just not organized. We need more functionality on both the website and on devices for searching and organizing. I really hope that we will get something similar to what I suggested earlier in this thread to group our library into collections or bundles.

Your suggestion was the best I've seen. They could be organized as "Marvel" "DC" "Disney" "Comedy" "Kids" Etc. That would be the easiest. I don't like the way CinemaNow does it, but it's something vs. nothing when it comes to sorting.

I have this feature on the web page, but I also do not have the ability to sort on my Samsung TV app. It makes finding movies difficult and strange. Since everything is sorted by purchase date, movies in the same series are no where near each other, for instance the The Muppets and The Muppets Most Wanted are several screens apart. Adding at least the same alphabetical, genre and year release filters on the Samsung app would be very helpful.
