Alot of us have already whined about the selection in older posts, but there's no sense in us repeating it ... we're just waiting and seeing ....

The last thing they want to hear is how they need to change their viewing habits to accommodate VUDU.

I work for a large & successful national retail chain. I think can offer some insight rather forum fanboy chatter. The first mistake a new vendor often makes is try to make the customer fit your model instead of your product fitting their lifestyle. Just a suggestion, ignore it at your peril.

I suggest that forum visitors shouldn't be shy about what they want out of this product. If they have viewing needs or experiences that aren't being met, VUDU needs to adapt to be successful. Push back.
I agree with you about " The last thing they (customers) want to hear is how they need to change their viewing habints to accommodate Vudu" when it should be the other way around or a "super Moderator" calling feedback a "gripe". I took the chance on this device and I don't think that it is unrealistic for be to want my money's worth. I know the company has it hands tied but that it not going to stop customers from wanting what they expected in the first place. Eg. Movies on demand at an equally current release schedule as Blcoksbuster, Netflicks etc.

I also think that other form visitors that disagree with those requests shouldn't be shy about saying they like the current design and direction.

          Re: movies to rent

I'm sorry for having to play devil's advocate, but I think it is unreasonable to ask someone to shell out $399 and then not be able to rent movies that have been available for years at Blockbuster. Why is that so difficult to understand?

And consumers don't want to hear that VUDU's hands are tied by movie studios as to when they offer titles for rent. Especially after customers have spent so much money for VUDU's selling point of convenience. Waiting weeks to rent a title is no convenience when consumers can run down to the local rental chain - today. I'm pretty sure catering to impulse buying is Marketing 101.

If VUDU has mismanaged their agreements with the movie studios then my sympathies go out to them. But I can't invest in mismanagement nor would I advise others to either. I truly hope VUDU can match their technical achievement of content delivery with a robust catalog of quality titles ready to rent and be competitive with chain outlets - soon.

If not, the future looks bleak. All the happy talk in the world by the forum moderators won't save them or their VUDU investment. Remember the debacle that was DIVX in the '90s?

          Happy Thanksgiving all!

I shelled out $250 for my first CD player when I couldn't even get CDS of albums that had been available for years. I bought one of the first DVD players and the same thing happened. Now I bought one of the first VOD boxes on the planet and it's the same thing (though much farther along this time). Either this is temporary, in which case just a little patience is in order (You didn't need to run out and buy a box in the first month or 2), or it won't, in which case Vudu will have difficulty down the line. Given that you have 30 days to return the box at no cost to you if you find you can't be patient, I don't see the issue.

That was something that nobody wanted. This isn't the same thing.
