What if they do the same thing with all the DVDs/Blu-rays I've purchased over the years? In one shot, my Amazon collection will be bigger than my Vudu collection. I'm not saying they're going to do that, I just don't know. But THAT would be a real game changer for Vudu, and possibly for DECE.
I think you are indicating if Amazon gave free digital rights via Amazon Instant Video for every packaged media purchased through them it may well spell the end of DECE & Vudu.

    I respectfully disagree.

I believe any one outlet's attempt to monopolize the consumer's digital rights ownership of movie industry content to be futile. DECE is a consortium, which gets around the problem. A special offer by Amazon is likely to have close to zero impact on the market trends, IMHO.

I would like to add, at one time not too long ago, consumers needed to decide if they were going to purchase HD-DVD or Bluray Disc. This went on for over a year.

Likewise, the EST digital rights of movie industry content is at a similar juncture which too soon will settle on a single method / format. This single method / format will not be Apple Corp's iTunes nor Amazon Corp's Instant Video. The consumers and the studios will not allow a monopoly like that to occur.

Don't get me wrong. I prefer the DECE/consortium approach as opposed to being locked into a single vendor. And while an "Amazon Match" would probably not spell the end of Vudu and DECE, I think that it would change the landscape for a while.

It's a shame that the Bluray/DVD/DC combo pack redeemed for me in SD, but will let you redeem in every other format in HD. It makes no sense and frustrating. Dealing with CS to get it switched over is probably going to be a big pain in the butt as I'll need to go dig receipts and redemption sheets out of the trash.

Definitely call up customer service about that, as I have the Blu-ray of Iron Man 3 and it redeemed in HDX for me.
