Here, Fandango at Home customers may post information, questions, ideas, etc. on the subject of Fandango at Home and Fandango at Home -related issues (home theater, entertainment, etc). Vudu box internet always doing something?

    Vudu box internet always doing something?

    Ive noticed the box is always downloading, whats it up to? Downloading sd titles?

    Since your box is new, it may still be downloading the movie headers, artwork, etc. After that, it will frequently be downoading the same for new movies as the database gets updated.

    Even when there is no downloading going on you are likely to see network activity due to Vudu's P2P architecture. Your box may be providing parts of a movie for someone else to download.

          Remember that the VUDU is a "Living" database of movies and content. Updates can come at anytime.

            Yep. Your box is probably getting the new database. New databases generally seem to roll our around Thursday/Friday time frame and the new movies generally come online on Mid-night Tuesday. At the same time, your box may also help seed other boxes in the network with their database updates.

            It's a true example of distributed computing where our "community" helps each other. I'm not sure how the hierarchy is determined as Vudu doesn't talk about that and how what boxes get selected to seed what other boxes, etc. There is a rather detailed and lengthy patent disclosure though that you can find that details all patented aspects of Vudu's technology.
