Warning on the Unrated version of Underworld on Vudu

I apologize for my first post on here to be something negative because I absolutely love Vudu, but in this case, an issue is being neglected so I thought others should at least be aware. I also didn't see this brought up when I searched the forum, so if it has been discussed and I missed it, my bad.

If you look up the first Underworld movie, you'll see Vudu offers the theatrical, "R" rated version that runs 122 minutes, and also the Unrated version with the different cover, which runs 134 minutes. But look closer at the Unrated. The specs for it say it's "R" rated and 122 minutes, like the theatrical.

I took a chance with my DVD and converted it. It recognized that I had the Unrated version and went through the process, giving me the proper version that they also offer for sale. And sure enough, it's the theatrical version. I checked and none of the extended scenes are in there. The running time is, indeed, 122 minutes.

They have the same theatrical version for sale in two spots, but one is under the guise of the Unrated version.

I brought this to the attention of customer service, and I was told it would be reviewed and I'd receive an answer within a few days. The following week I received an email saying the case was dropped. I replied to that and was told that the version I got was what was available for Disc to Digital conversion.

That's not right, especially since it not only recognized it as being Unrated but gave me the Unrated version. So I replied saying, "Thank you for your response. Please note, however, that this is not only a disc to digital issue. Vudu is selling the same Unrated version, with the Unrated cover, separately on the site, and it is the wrong version. I can understand if the company gave you the wrong version to put there, but Vudu is still selling the Rated R version on its own as well as the same version in the false guise of the Unrated version. This could lead to more problems from other customers who would be rightfully upset; customers who thought they were buying the Unrated version directly from Vudu."

The response I received then was: "This has already been reviewed and is what the movie studio provided."

Wow, that was rude. Anyway, it is false advertisement in my opinion. I don't think it was intentional, that the movie studio made a mistake, but I would think Vudu would make them fix this mistake, especially since the Unrated version was obviously licensed. I've been given the impression that it's easier to keep selling people the wrong movie, instead.

Anyway, beware when purchasing that one. If it's cheaper than the theatrical, grab it, since it's the same thing.

I'm having the content team have a look at this. I'll post an update as soon as I hear something.

I hadn't even noticed, but you're right, the unrated is rated R. I was going to load a screen shot of it, but, I keep getting errors when trying to do so.

Is it the same for Ghost Rider? The d2d page lists both versions, but clicking the extended cut takes you to the theatrical version.

No, because when you search for Ghost Rider, it only has the rated version on VUDU. However, when you search for Underworld, it shows a rated and unrated versions, but they both give you the rated R version.

I appreciate that! Again, it's more than just the customers with this, but Vudu, too, if they're licensed to sell the Unrated version and it wasn't given to them.

To check movie differences, you can also compare with this site: http://www.movie-censorship.com/report.php?ID=5059467

It tells you added scenes and the exact moment in the movie, time-wise, to locate them.

Is there any update on this? I just thought I bought the Unrated Extended version of this movie but it turns out I have the shorter version that is 122 minutes. I want the Unrated Extended version since that is what I selected.

Wow, a year later. Well, at least it's getting done. Of course that could be the studio that took a year to respond too.

It has been fixed. The unrated version is now 134 minutes and the theatrical is 122 minutes.

I tried emailing vudu for help about a week ago with pictures and proof of purchase. I own the unrated version on bluray and was given the rated r version instead. Hoping that someone can please help me.

Was this a code redemption or a D2D conversion?

I was looking through the forums (besides this thread) on this movie and it looks like vudu helped some of the people with the same issue where they got the theatrical version instead for underworld. Please dont tell me you cant help me now..
