    HD TV Shows

I was perusing Vudu and noticed there were more TV shows. Then I noticed they were shows from HDNET and that they were in HD. This is a nice suprise and I hope the trend of more HD television persists. Good work Vudu.

Noticed it as well. It would be nice, as that's the only thing for which I still find myself using itunes.

They are kinda pricey though. HD TV shows from iTunes are $2.99. I think some of these were a few dollars more than that. Still it is a good sign, but let's get more mainstream stuff - at least get current season material on Terminator, The Closer, etc.

I agree on the price, it is a little steep. I too would like to see more mainstream shows as well as more tv in general. Right now I have to use Xbox or Apple TV for shows I can't get or forget to set on my Tivo. Vudu and Tv are on my main TV while the others are on a different TV. It would be much nicer to just get them from Vudu.

TV side of VUDU is their main content hole. Hopefully, with HD & HDX content acquisition out of the way, they can focus on TV shows. I'd much rather get current HD shows through VUDU than other means.

I think the adding of HD (and HDX) movies is going to continue as a big effort, at least the press releases from last week hinted at that. It needs to, having more HD movies than Blu-ray isn't a big achievement, Blu-ray's selection is a little poor. Vudu should be negotiating rights and encoding movies like crazy over the next few months.

We have Shaun Of The Dead but not Hot Fuzz. We have the old Star Trek movies in HD but the next-generation movies (7-10) are only starting to trickle through. Dirty Harry is in HD and so is one of the sequels, what about the other three? And still no Godfather Trilogy (I want to see the HDX encodes on the box as rentals).

As good as the selection is right now, there are some holes left to plug in the movie cataloge yet.

While VUDU needs to keep up with Blu-Ray & other providers when it comes to HD movies and needs to get more HDX content, the movie catalog as it is right now is pretty darn good relative to others. Where others have advantage is TV shows and/or additional functionality (TiVo, AppleTV, 360, PS3, etc.), so VUDU needs to work on addressing that.

AFAIK, Shaun was actually on the box. It must be blacked-out for now.

Sure, it wouldn't help to cover multiple bases. I bought the box for movies and it delivers big time on that front. If they add music streaming support on Vudu, all the better.

Well, I'm hoping the blackout nonsense isn't a long term thing (they're turning away a lot of peoples money) but I've done enough ranting about that in the movie request sub-forum.
