    Movies still missing on Roku

Back in June we found that there are 5 movies that do not show up on Roku devices:

    Mars Attacks!
    Pale Rider
    Scooby-Doo and the Samurai Sword
    Dial M For Murder
    Blood Work

A couple of days ago we found that now we are missing 7 movies. The following movies also do not appear on Roku:

    Maverick
    A Streetcar Named Desire

All of these titles are being worked on with the studios to see if there is a fix for them. There is no time frame as to when they will be fixed or if they can be fixed at all.

Thanks! I submitted a new case this morning for this as well asking if this was even being worked on (either by the studios or by Roku). Seems like such a simple thing for "someone" to fix, but it's obviously not a priority since this has been an issue for more at least six months now...probably longer. Since these are all UV titles I would expect that sooner or later they will get fixed since Roku is growing in popularity.

I also see where the list of movies is different between Roku 2 and 3. I have both, and on the 2 I get 256 movies showing up, however if I go to the Roku 3, I only have 181 movies showing up. Movies like Die hard 1-3, the matrix, the mummy, etc do not show up on the Roku 3. Has anyone else seen that?

The Treasure of the Sierra Madre and Bringing Up Baby are two more movies that do not work on Roku. I now have 9 movies that we cannot watch on Roku through Vudu. In order to watch these movies we have to use the new M-Go service on Roku...that is, when we can get our UV library to load.

I'll add "Collateral Damage" to this list.

              ...add "The Aviator" (2004)

Dropped off my library list around the start of the year, only on the Roku XS we have.

On our Vizio TV and our PS3 app, the titles is still there.

I finally sat down to figure what all was missing from my Roku 3. I found 14 in all:

                  1. Arthur
                  2. Dial M for Murder
                  3. Falling Down
                  4. For Your Consideration
                  5. Last King of Scotland
                  6. Mars Attacks!
                  7. Maverick
                  8. My Blue Heaven
                  9. Pale Rider
                  10. Singing In the Rain
                  11. Sleepers
                  12. Steetcar Named Desire
                  13. THX 1138

What you mean is that these are missing from VUDU on your Roku. What I find interesting is that these movies show up and stream just find on Roku using M-GO. I would assume that the studio would have created the file once and set that out to everyone. If that is true, why is Roku able to play the movie from M-GO's server but not Vudu?

Out of curiosity, I tried to play Dial M For Murder and Pale Rider on the Target Ticket Roku channel. I was also able to view these movies on this channel. So I would expect the others to also work.

I would like to have access to all my movies on Vudu, but at least I am able to stream, using other services, all the movies that I have purchased. In my opinion that is one of the nice things about UV, redundancy and services you can use as backup.

Re: Movies still missing on Roku

It is my understanding that each service has its own proprietary streaming format, that the service encodes from whatever they get from the studio. Sometimes different services have different aspect ratio's of the same film, so they are not the same.

If that were true then I would think Vudu could fix the encoding and not point the finger back to the studio and say that they are waiting on the studio to send them a new encoded file.
