Hopefully they will be in 5.1.... But honestly I would rather see the "newer" movies available 5.1 before I see any HD movies..

Every HD title I've seen on my Vudu (Beta Testers Server) has been in 5.1. I will be shocked if they aren't in 5.1.

This is excellent! It is really nice to see the studious publicly endorsing Vudu. It may just yet become the 800 lb. gorilla for VOD. I wonder if they will loosen up on some of the restrictions on SD too.

Agreed. I was encouraged to rent two new releases (Next and In the Land of Women) and find both of them to be 5.1. I noticed that Spiderman 3, Surf's Up, and Superman Doomsday are all 5.1. It is heading in the right direction.

We told you guys it was coming!

Just wait till you see it! And yes, I believe to be considered an "HD" film, the audio has to be in DD5.1 as well...I think that's universal for all HD content.

For those on the Beta servers, is there a simple way to identify HD content prior to downloading? Is there an icon or something of the sort? I'd just like to know what we should be looking for when it drops.

It should say "HD" next to the title. I don't know what the final UI will look like for HD content. Hopefully they will have a filter for it or an "HD Only" section. Of course doing a search for "HD" should work...

Re: HD Soon - Very Soon

Super awesome. What about the tech. specs?

-I'm assuming HD also includes 5.1 obviously
-DL size/speed? Does this change anything about the instant-on feature? IE does it take longer to DL the first few minutes of an HD movie than it does an SD movie?
-Only new titles from here on will be in HD or will older titles be available in their HD format as well?
                          -expected purchase/rent price?
-Regular 1080P support? (not 1080/24) **Edit** - Just now realized that it's 1080i not p, is that true?
-Will this require a software upgrade?

so excited....so many questions. This will actually be the first time watching an HD movie on my 1080P (the whole reason I bought the damn thing) set.

Mods please feel free to move this to an HD questions thread or something.

You will need about 4Mbps download speed for instant viewing, IIRC.

Well, as this says, the two earlier Bourne movies will be in HD, and the third when it's available. I don't know where VUDU is pushing hardest, but they know we want mostly science fiction and action movies in HD. I am pretty sure they're looking for any and all HD content...within reason. I don't think we need any Three Stooges in HD.

Hey - didn't we tell you guys to trust us!

We would not lie to you guys or BS you. When we say things are coming, we mean it...There's more good things coming down the pipe as well...

As for the download, these movies should all be pre-downloaded to you box. So when you have access to them - THEY WILL BE THERE already...No need to stream.

As for additional HD content, we don't know at this point. Time will tell, but I expect that by the time Christmas arrives, we'll have a decent amount of HD content available. It's a guess, but I think it's a good one.
