    Best Buy Scare

    I placed an order on BB's website for a box to be shipped to my parents for Christmas. Paid for expedited shipping just to make sure they got it in time. It showed arrival would be on the 22nd or 23rd and I thought I was set. Then I got an e-mail saying that it was backordered 1-2 weeks and would not arrive by the 24th. Needless to say I was upset so I called not once but three times. I was told there was zero stock in any of the distribution centers and it would not arrive by Christmas and asked if I wanted to cancel the order that there was nothing else they could do for me. I said that was not a solution to my problem and asked for them to have one shipped from one of the stores and was told they don't do that. I asked why even today it shows available on the website and was told it was probably a glitch in the system. Finally the third person I spoke with was actually sales not customer service and she actually took the time to look into it more and after a long time she found out that it ships directly from Vudu. So we concluded that that was the reason for the backorder notice because of course they (BB), don't have any stock. I take this to mean BB online never has stock and all units ship directly from Vudu. Maybe I am the only one who didn't know BB online orders shipped directly from Vudu. I got my box directly from Vudu so this was my first time to buy one from BB online. BB really needs to fix their system so people don't get back order e-mails. So this is my cautionary tale in case anyone else finds themselves in the same situation. Hopefully my Mom and Dad get their box by Christmas. Sorry to go on and on. /end rant

    Bestbuy Online is separate from the BestBuy brick and mortar stores. It's always been a pain dealing with them for me when I've had problems. Plus they don't pricematch from other stores when you order online either.

      That's too bad, looks like they've been swamped with xmas orders and are selling them faster than they can make 'em!

      The bestbuy offer was a pretty good deal, I'm not surprised they are selling so much. If it helps there's a google map mock-up on the Vudu web page somewhere showing the bestbuy stores that carry them. You might have one within a reasonable distance.

          That's crazy that they told you that web orders get shipped from us. All bestbuy.com orders get shipped from their warehouses. Of course their warehouses are stocked from our distribution centers but it's up to them to keep their stock on hand.

            I should have known not to believe anything BB told me Oh well I hope my parents get their box by Christmas. I've had mine for a year and love it. I'm thinking about getting a second box for myself before the BB promotion runs out. But after this experience I don't even know if they would get it to me in time to activate the second box so that I could get the movie credit before 1/15.

              I guarantee you can get them a VUDU box by Christmas by Re-Gifting!!! Think about it.

                Just get the box directly from VUDU using current $149 promo:$99 for the box + 50 in credits (or $199 if you want wireless bridge). Plus, you probably won't have to pay any tax.
