Remote buttons seem to respond differently

not sure if anyone has seen my problem. the play/pause button and the vudu button don't always seem to work (end up getting very close to the box sometimes before it will work). the wheel itself always seems to respond. i adjusted the sensitivity (increased), but that didn't seem to help much.

summary: all of the buttons work at some point, but 2 of the buttons don't seem to respond at all times.

i should mention as a side note, althout not necessarily directly related... the battery cover is difficult to snap back in.

Most likely you are experiencing some minor RF interference. There is a menu in "Info & Settings" that will let you adjust the remote sensitivity level to overcome this.

First make sure you have the antenna installed and its pointing up.

Other things to check. One you can try re-paring the remote with the VUDU. Here is the link...just follow the steps:

      http://supports.vudu.com/questions/1...should+I+do%3F

If that doesn't work there are dip switches in the remote that allow for 4 different frequencies. You can change the switches and then re-pair with the VUDU and see if you have better results. If that doesn't solve it then you may want to contact VUDU support. You may have a defective remote or box.

I have noticed this also. The wheel always works but sometimes the buttons do not work and I have to move the remote a few feet to the right or left to get the buttons to function.

Re: Remote buttons seem to respond differently

          As Ron and Ed stated:

          - Try adjusting the sensitivity up or down. The sensitivity adjusts the receiver in the Vudu. If it's getting interference you may actually want to make the sensitivity LOWER in order to reduce the level of that interference.

          - Make sure the antenna is well seated and not behind any metal objects or anything like that. And it should be pointing upright.

          - Adjust the frequency of the remote and re-pair if necessary. This remote operates in a band used by a number of other devices - so you may need to change frequency particularly if you have something like a wireless weather station at your house or some other similar device...

          - Put fresh batteries in the remote. - This hasn't been mentioned yet, but it's very important. The batteries included should be OK, but there's no guarantee.

If all else fails, contact customer service...

Re: Remote buttons seem to respond differently

I have these issues on some of my remotes as well. It is actually quite frustrating. I'm guessing it is interference but I really shouldn't have to deal with that and it isn't clear that I could make it better anyway. I am using all of the different "channels" for the multiple boxes so that isn't an option anyway. I really wish it was just a plain infrared remote instead of RF. I also wish it was more Tivo style with a joystick and a select button instead of the wheel. With the interference problem mentioned here, the wheel becomes even more frustrating to me.

Re: Remote buttons seem to respond differently

Well... i worked on my remote tonight. went through all four dip switch settings. I then picked the "best" one, but i'm still having problems. first thing i did was up the sensitivity on the "best" frequency, but that didn't seem to do anything (perhaps a problem in the box itself?) basically, when i get outside of 4 feet, i get dodgy response. when i get outside of 8 feet, i get no response.

the only interference i figure i might have out there are phones and a wireless network.

long story short... i guess i'll try the customer care route.

beyond the remote thing, i have watched several movies. love the box.

last update on this one... i exchanged emails with vudu support on thanksgiving (apparently not a holiday for the vudu support force!), received a replacement remote a couple of days later and it works perfectly!

                  thanks!

Great news. Glad you are back in business with the VUDU. I had to up my sensitivity a bit since we sit back a ways from the equipment cabinet.
