    Forum posting locked??

Was wondering why some postings get locked? I had a posting out there titled Flixster and after some responses it was locked. Just wondering if I said something that caused it to be locked. Thanks.

Threads centered around the competition are a no-no here. Should be Vudu-centric.

Like Jeff said. The title alone was enough for them to lock or delete it, considering this is a Vudu owned/operated forum. If the post was purely UV related, it would probably be left alone, as that is a partner system, not competition.

There really are no "rules" spelled out regarding mentioning other UV retailers. People do it all the time, sometimes the threads get locked and sometimes not. I think it really depends on how Vudu fairs in the discussion. They don't take constructive criticism very well on the forum. Sometimes they even hard delete messages. That has happened to me in the past. They even banned me for 10 days without any notice or warning of what I was doing wrong. I haven't seen anything that says we cannot compare and contrast UV retailers. It seem to be an unwritten "law" here.

I wish UV would start a forum where we could have some good honest conversations without worrying about all our time being wasted when the thread is locked or our posts are deleted.

Hmmm interesting. Ok was just wondering. Guess I will be more careful in the future. Thanks.

It could have also been that the very last part of the last post ("Any other sites offer free movies?") sounded like you were talking about trading/purchasing/obtaining UV codes independently of the discs, which they really are touchy about. My guess is that part of every UV contract strictly forbids any kind of reference to that kind of activity, as the studios would HATE that.

(I figured you were talking about promotional deals, I'm just presenting this as another possibility.)

Yeah I thought about it after they locked it. And yes I was actually referring to the sites like VUDU that offer free movies when you sign up. No big deal I was just wondering.

I'm still trying to figure out why Walter's thread in the D2D and Ultraviolet forum has been locked, when it really does nothing but praise UV's acceptance and speaks of optimism about UV going forward.

Probably because his praise and optimism is starting to sound like a fundamentalist televangelist's fervor, as he questions the motivations or even mental state of anyone who dares differ from him. ("I guess I touched a nerve challenging your strongly held beliefs and triggered a defense mechinism.")

I think the post is interesting, because just a few weeks (if that long) ago he was pretty grim about UV's prospects. It's almost as if he goes from one extreme to the other.

Hope he finds his middle ground soon.

Perhaps, like most of us, there are things that he loves about UV and things that he hates about UV. Two opposite and extreme feelings. I guess we all need to remember that nothing ever created by man is perfect and sometimes the creators don't want negative feedback, even when it is in an effort to improve their product or service. In cases like that you are pretty much stick with what you got and you either throw it out or learn to live with the things you hate.
