    I'm With Vudu!

My Box arrived today, setup and Activation was a breeze, the $50 Holiday Credits showed instantly in my account that I set up last week. The Box is currently loading data. I'm getting stoked to actually order my first flick...more to come...

I must say I am happy to be a Vudu owner. I have no desire to adopt Bluray ( since I was an early HD DVD adopter ) personnally I think this is the future. HDX is HD DVD/BluRay quality and is much much easier to deal with than renting from Block Buster or Netflix.
hats off to Vudu I hope you stick around.

It should only take 4 hours with the 4mbs bandwidth.
I watched it Tuesday night. I orderd it at 5PM online and was watching it around 9PM.
When I orderd it it also showed me an estimate of a little over 4 hours to download.

I would recheck your VUDU settings for your bandwidth limit.

Unfortunately I range only within 2-3 mbit speed on my DSL, no faster speeds are available.

If you haven't, you should watch some SD movies (instantly!). I think you will be surprised at the quality.

Well my new XL came today, and I'm having the same issue with that one...over my DSL, even so my other box is "Instant HD," go figure. Could have something to do with it downloading all the new info, but who knows.

I'd have to agree with redwein on this - the instant SD will surprise you with their quality. I've been mainly watching instant HD but the other day I rented an SD movie and I had forgotten how stellar the quality was on those files.

Shoot, you got an XL! Good for you! Which one did you get - the original in the same form factor as the BX100 or the XL2 in the rack mount?

The original in the same form factor, however I was looking for a XL2, but I couldn't find one that was being sold at below MSRP, unlike the original XL.

Ah, so you didn't pay MSRP...

Well I've always thought the MSRP for the XL, and XL2 were way overpriced for what you get, and now that the XL2 is out, the XL's can be found for a price that, in my opinion, is more in-line with what it should of been in the first place.

To be honest, it isn't the price that is the issue, it is the value for the money. I have no problem spending the money, IF I feel I am getting good value for the money. But for a bigger HDD of 1TB vs the 250gb your only talking like a small amount, and to pay a premium for Remote over IP, HD over component (which I believe cost extra on top of the MSRP??), and being able to use two video outputs at once, for an extra $700 seems over inflated, in my opinion. Now give me Gigabit ports, built in wireless and IR, and other extra exclusive features, THEN you have me sold, but for a few extra "minor" features and a bigger HDD, for $999?? no thanks.

In my opinion, had I had a say in the design of the XL, I would have had exclusive hardware features that the VB100 doesn't have, and would not have without them upgrading to an XL, such as a better decoding chip that handles more formats, dual gigabit ethernet ports with the ability to create an aggreate link, faster and larger HDDs, faster processor, etc...Personally, I would of never pushed the XL as a VB100 with a few minor upgraded firmware features and a bigger HDD, and then ask people to pay a $700 Premium for it.
