    Walmart Pre-Orders

When a person pre orders a movie from the Walmart website does Walmart email a code for the early digital copy?

If you are just doing a typical preordering of a DVD or Bluray, then you don't get an early digital code.

There may be an occasional special promo, is this what you are asking about?

Hi, There are times when I want physical media and it would be nice if a person could order a movie to be delivered to their home and have access to the early digital copy as well. I know that if a person buys the pre order at a walmart store there is a code in the pre order. I was just hoping that purchasing online would work the same and I think it would be a good idea if it was. If I could preorder Godzilla knowing that I would have access to a digital copy a month early or two weeks early and have the physical copy shipped to my home when it is released I would preorder more movies from Walmart. Now I just wait until they are released and go to Best Buy because I do not live near a Walmart.

I'm not sure if Walmart.com offers that kind of preorder (i.e., early access via Vudu + ship DVD/Blu-ray); I've only seen those in stores but I could be wrong. If those exist, perhaps either (a) you received the code when you bought it or (b) the download was posted directly to your Vudu account without a code?

I do not think they do. It would make sense if they did and would be good business for them. I drove all the way out to one Saturday and was so disappointed in their inventory it was mostly all DVDs. No pre-orders hardly any blu-rays I thought Best Buy has a terrible selection Walmart takes the cake.

Yes, they do. I have purchased 2 or 3 preorders from Walmart. The latest was Son of God. I entered the code and verified my address. I was able to stream the movie early on Vudu and I received the DVD on or after the release date. All movies are not done that way, so be sure to read the fine print.

Walmart in store or online at Walmart.com?

+1. I've seen Vudu preorder cards at Walmart stores before (actually bought a couple of them), but so far not at Walmart.com.

I've stated to see movie cards that look like the pre-order cards, but they are cheaper than the physical media, and only contain a vudu digital copy. That is pretty neat. These would make a great gift for someone who doesn't yet have a vudu account. So far I only saw them for Universal movies, so I hope they expand them to include other studios. This is one way to grow the pool of vudu users.
