Re: Bourne Trilogy in HD available on VUDU soon!

Thank you so much for this hands on side by side comparison. It's fantastic to hear that Vudu is such a strong contender in the HD arena. I always love it when someone makes me feel good about my purchase decisions. I'm really glad you got your boxes. You were already contributing a lot to the discussion even before you pulled the trigger.

Bill Gates doesn't do the development. Actually NTFS is more resilient than ext3 on Linux at this time. I do run ext3 and really can't stand the "check disk" eacy time the system starts from a crash or kernel panic. There are a lot more journed file systems out there such as JFS2 from IBM, and the Linux guys are have ext4 which is in development which will provide additional journaling capabilities.

Remember the PC hardware is developed separate from the PC software. The VUDU folks developed and wrote their own software so its synergistic from a single source. In Apple's case they built their own hardware then commandeered Free BSD and put their logo on it. (They may have written a few extensions for BSD like their Finder for desktop support vs. KDE or GNOME)

I'm a retired software guy and I have no idea what you just said.

Now I know why people used to look at me funny when I talked to them. Probably why I didn't score much either.

        Glad I'm retired.

Take Care, go easy on the late night pizza.

          No s**t! Really?

Gee, I thought bill wrote all what 160 Gigabytes worth of Vista.

Gee, I think Mac OS Leopard still fits into about 10 Gigabytes or less. Yes, I know Vista doesn't take 160 Gigabytes (Leopard still kicks its "runs Internet Explorer for every task it knows how to do" backside). Gee, my system folder in OS 10.5 is 3.48 Gig. Yeah, there's a bit more in the Library and other places, but it's less than 10 Gig for sure. And everything doesn't run inside a browser...

When I say "Bill Gates" I mean Microsoft.

          Cripe.

I plugged my VUDU into a Sanyo TV and the picture was slightly streched out on all sides with the picture chopped off.

At first I thought I had the aspect ratio set wrong on the tv, but every setting I tried just made it worse.

Then I found the VUDU overscan option and had to set it quite a bit differently than what was set for my Aquos.

But now the picture is perfect again.

Good job VUDU!!! I didn't realize tv's had such a large tolerance in the way they size the picture.
