    Superhero Sale

    This is just a general venting and not actually directed at Vudu because I understand that you guys don't have a lot of control of what is available and what goes on sale....buuuuut....I am sick and tired of Disney being so friggin' precious about their films. Almost every non-Disney controlled superhero movie is (or has been) on sale, but Disney refuses to give breaks on theirs even though this would be a prime time to do it with The Winter Soldier being released digitally and Guardians of the Galaxy burning up the box office. To make matters worse, they price their movies more than 50% higher than the average going rate for digital versions. The Pirates of the Caribbean movies are only a dollar more, and that is far more reasonable.

    I have all the Avengers and Pixar films on Blu-Ray, and I really don't feel like paying full price for them all again, even though I would love to have them in my Vudu library. I'm not even expecting them to go UV anytime soon, but I wish they would stop acting like their catalog is better than everybody else's.

    Disney is that way with physical discs as well. I keep hoping against hope that the Blu-ray 3D versions of Captain America: The First Avenger & Thor will come down in price, even at a certain Walmart competitor that always has them in stock -- for $35 each. Maybe they'll go on sale with Captain America: The Winter Soldier when it Blu-ray 3D Sept. 9; release week is usually the best time to catch Disney movies of any kind on sale, and the ads leaked so far suggest very competitive release-week pricing for that title.

    Whatever; Disney is famous for its stubborn streaks, from the whole "vault" process for its biggest animated features (probably benefits eBay sellers more than them), to abandoning Blu-ray 3D in the U.S. (but not overseas) for most new non-Marvel titles (i.e., Frozen) in favor of iffy 3D streaming on Vudu.
