Vudu needs more unrated film cuts

I am seeing a lot of well known films that have Unrated versions but Vudu seems to be only offering the R versions. This is frankly really annoying. I don't know if it's Vudu's fault, but if you're with me on this please join in asking Vudu to push the studios harder to release the NR version as well, or if only one can be had, then to prefer the NR version.

Everything from Eyes Wide Shut, Damage, to a variety of sassy comedies of recent vintage are offered in R only. In my view this seriously diminishes the value of the service to me as I would like to chose the version that I want.

That said I did notice that some films are offered in both, but just too few to really matter.

On this subject, while it's nice that Vudu choose to sometimes make both versions available, I don't know anyone who would pick a censored version of a movie over the original cut. You know artistic freedom, and all.

There's at least one example (Dodgeball) where of the two version, only the edited one is available in the HDX format with the longer version only in SD. That's really annoying!

Yeah, I've been waiting in vain to rent the unrated versions of Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Superbad, just to name two off the top of my head. I think I missed a short window of opportunity on the latter.

I watched "American Pie" in the theatrical version and the unrated version (not on Vudu). I enjoyed the theatrical version more as the way they handled the "pie" scene was much funnier. The unrated version just seemed gratuitous and detracted from the humor of the concept. Personally, I'd probably pick the theatrical version of the unrated version most of the time but that's just my opinion.

I have a 13 year-old and I would have to respectfully disagree. There are many instances of this with a PG-13 version. In that case, I will usually only allow her to see that version.

I agree with you for the most part on R rated movies, but I don't let her see those anyway until AFTER I decide it is OK or not.

Movie ratings are all over the board in my opinion.
