    Ultraviolet Users Streaming

I read an article where Mitch Singer (president of DECE) said how he was surprised folks are streaming Ultraviolet, not downloading as they originally envisioned. Given the only way most folks can watch HD content on TV is by streaming, I don't see why there's any cause for surprise. Once we can download HD content and watch it on big screen TV's in our homes, or on the road, then he can report how folks are consuming their content. For now, we have little choice.

My worry is he's laying the groundwork to say there's no hurry to get CFF out on the market, and they'll delay the rollout yet again.

I don't know what you mean when you say "Given the only way most folks can watch HD content on TV is by streaming..."? I have most of my U/V movies in HD and I mostly stream them in HD and rarely download them. Also, a lot of the downloadable movies are available in HD.

I think the point was the only way you can watch UV is to stream, so no kidding that people are not watching by downloading...

        Correct.

Some content is not even available in HD for download to your PC. If it can be downloaded to your PC, it's much too hard to get downloaded HD content on your TV with a PC. You have to work thru HDMI issues (like HDCP). Most folks won't bother. No one will make a consumer UV download box unless UV has a download model.

I'm using my iPad at the hotel now with HDMI, and while it works well, there's no HD. I work on my laptop while I'm at the hotel, and I'd rather not dedicate it to watching movies. I really don't understand why Vudu doesn't let us download HD to iPads.

This guy is a joke, and I'm still not sure why the DECE decided to make him President after Sony cut him loose.

If you promise a cross-platform solution for digital downloads, but spend two years only offering streaming and proprietary downloads, guess what? People are going to choose streaming. What's the purpose in downloading a multi-gig file when the download is locked to the device?

My patience on this issue is really wearing thin. Give us the functionality promised, or shut up.
