Disney/Touchstone Movies downgrading to SD

Okay...I see two things happening to my library...which I verified by playback within the MA app...

First, any Standard Def codes that were redeemed in MA, that then appeared as HD everywhere, is reverting back to SD.

Second, any Disney Movies where I redeemed only the Google or iTunes portion of the code, is reverting to SD. Just after this merge I realized I never redeemed my Wrek-It Ralph. I tried the DMA code on Movies Anywhere and got an error. I tried (for my first time) redeeming it through iTunes because, hey, Movies Anywhere right? It redeemed then as HD, but is now SD.

So the first part, I'm not happy about but I see why that is happening.

The second part is something like Disney comparing it to see if you also have the DMA redeem in your locker, and if you don't, you get only the SD version.

It's impacting any Disney movies I have that I redeemed through Google or iTunes, but not ones bought through Amazon or Vudu.

I had 6 movies get downgraded to SD and 5 of them aren't Disney Movies. One is Disney (Thor) and the other 5 are Warner Bros. (3 Lord of the Ring films, 2 Mortal Kombat films).

This is the result of a change made by MA yesterday. More details will be available shortly.

MA chat told me and others the issue lies with them, and they are working on it. Chat said to give it a week, and if our HD titles didn't return to HD to contact them again. It seems as though (by their words), they will be restoring the titles to HD.

Hmmm...I'll keep an eye on my accounts and post an update if anything changes. I wish we could just see what resolution we had licensee for directly on the MA site.

    Wow...

First, thank you to the community for posting this and bringing it to my attention. With this change, it appears I will be relying on Amazon for playback on devices that do not have the Movies Anywhere app yet. I invested a great deal in my digital Disney collection, often buying through Vudu, but considering I'm also having issues with my 4K titles from other services appearing as UHD in Vudu, it might be time I stopped using this service.

    BIG EDIT...

I had a long list of movies here that were impacted, but that is irrelevant....please see this post...

Herein lies the problem. Ultraviolet does things without notifying Vudu. Vudu does things without notifying Movies Anywhere. Even if they do, it never trickles down to CS. They are almost always clueless about issues that are universally affecting all users until they receive a zillion calls about the same thing. It's as if these companies don't acknowledge they are partnered, and don't realize their actions affect customers all the way down the food chain.

You might think Vudu likes having their phones light up with customer issues that they don't know how to solve. It's no wonder they rate an "F" from the Better Business Bureau. A simple email from them, or even a post here from someone in the know would alleviate a ton of the problems CS reps have to deal with. Here it is, 12 hours after this initial post, and not a peep from anyone at Vudu.

This is not just Disney/Touchstone. It also happened to a bunch of Unrated/Extended versions from various studios. Last night, these were all downgraded to SD from HDX in my library :

Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li (Unrated)
    What Happens In Vegas (Extended)
    Babylon A.D. (Raw and Uncut)
    Paul (Unrated)
    Taken (Extended Cut)
X-Files: I Want To Believe (Special Edition)
    Max Payne (Unrated)

And these are the Disney/Touchstone movies that downgraded in my library:

    War Horse
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales
    Born in China
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Well, on the bright side... after a month of UHD upgrades not importing to vudu when you already own HD, at least they got some sort of quality changes from MA working?!?!

HDX to SD and put at the top of my library list:

101 Dalmatians II: Patch's London Adventure
Avengers Confidential: Black Widow and Punisher
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
    Iron Man: Rise of Technovore
    The Lion King 1 1/2
The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride
The Lion King (The Walt Disney Signature Collection)
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales
    Real Steel

HDX to SD and moved, but not all the way to the top of my library list:

    Brave
    Captain America: The First Avenger
    G-Force
    Iron Man 2
    Old Dogs
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
    The Princess and the Frog
    Race to Witch Mountain
    The Sorcerer's Apprentice
    Thor
    Tron: Legacy

Some of these were upgraded to HD by DMA when they allowed HD upgrades. Why is it now MA and Vudu can determine if we get to keep the versions DISNEY gave us?? Vudu says MA has a bug. MA says to contact Disney. Does no one want to take responsibility for this? Being these titles were HD on Vudu BEFORE MA was even around, I don't see how they can tell us what we are allowed to have or not!

If these issues aren't fixed soon, I'll be making the jump to iTunes in January.

Same thing happened me, I noticed 4 movies I got from itunes day one from moviesanywhere. Lincoln, Dick Tracy, Pirates 4, and 10 Things I Hate About You. As they popped up at the top of my movies. But then, as look around further, checking my Marvel movies, Cap 1, Thor 1, and Iron Man 2 have been downgraded. I am beyond furious about those!!!!
