Is Vudu ending UV support in the future?

    https://vudu.custhelp.com/app/answer...kw/ultraviolet

"Vudu no longer provides the ability to invite new members to an UltraViolet Library.

For existing shared UltraViolet Libraries, only the owner of a shared UltraViolet Library can see the sharing option. The sharing option on the UltraViolet page displays accepted invitations issued through Vudu."

For some time now Vudu has been the only place where you could share a UV library, seems that is ending.

      This really sucks!!!!

they should have at least given everybody a chance to use all 5 of their shares prior to cutting everybody off.....

There is no longer an "Ultraviolet" tab in the pulldown under your account name...

Vudu has taken away the only thing that set them apart. Google Play now has it over them with Family Sharing.

Dumb question. What is a Vudu code? And is digital copy MA and UV now?

The date updated is 11/13/2017. So they've quietly done this.

The problem ( for me ) with Google Family Sharing is that you have to tie the library to a single payment option, and everybody in that library can buy titles with that payment option. That's not cool with me, so I will not use.

if you make the accounts your sharing to be between the ages of 13 - 17, you can control this a little........ you can make it require a pin code for them to purchase stuff.....
                      ....

I can't believe no one cares about this. Library sharing is what set Vudu apart, and now they've removed future sharing. This post has been pushed well down the second page by people wanting UV rights to be enabled for new movies, but honestly why do you care about UV rights if you can no longer share? I've been frugal with whom I share, I had used only 3 slots, and now the remaining 2 are gone. Not a word from Vudu why, and nary a question from any customers here...unbelievable.

This is a major disappointment which will change my movie buying habits. When i would make a purchase, being UV and therefore eligible to share with friends and family was the deal sealer for me. Non-UV purchases always felt selfish. Without sharing, i may need to look at Netflix and Amazon Prime more often. Also Apple is providing free 4K upgrades which will be very tempting if UV sharing goes away completely

Yes. What is Vudu's business plan? I thought they would capitalize off being on the only UV member of MA but they are going in the opposite direction. Why would I buy any movies from Vudu at this point if there doesn't appear to be any advantage over iTunes? Seems like apple is going to take over movies like they did music.

Take for example the movie "War for the Planet of Apes" it is currently on sale on Vudu for $7.99 for HDX and is UV compatible. But it sells for $9.99 on iTunes for UHD. Even with the sale you have a hard time passing on 4K purchase, only the ability to share would of made it a contender. If sharing is now being closed down then what advantage does Vudu have other than more platforms supported and TV?

As someone who has already invested in Vudu and who has quite a selection of non MA titles, I would rather stay with Vudu then go someplace else where I would be missing nearly a quarter of my collection and TV shows. There is currently no incentive for new customers to join Vudu, except for D2D which is likely going away soon. They will have no choice but to offer either free upgrades if they want to attract new customers or if they are just interested in retaining current customers, give us the ability to upgrade our HD titles. I see a lot of UHD titles that are either the same price or just a couple dollars more than the HD version. I can't see why they would want us to pay full price for the same movie after we spent so much upgrading our DVD collections to HD. They also need UHD support for Sony TV's. I don't know why other retailers can play UHD content on my TV but Vudu can't.
