    Godzilla problem

I'm curious if anybody here who might have watched Godzilla a week or so ago can take another look at it. It looks like Vudu put another version of it up and it looks terrible. I watched it once a few weeks ago then compared it to the blu-Ray, so I know what it used to look like - now it just looks all washed out as if it's overly bright. The same thing actually happened to 12 Years a Slave awhile ago...

    Re: Godzilla problem

Just got this title today. I agree it looks like a low contrast filter is on. There is no true black. Just very dark grey.

Hope they fix it. Perhaps on one of the other UV providers it will look better.

...just checked M-Go and that problem does not exist there. Nice crisp images and deep rich colors with dark shading instead of the grey on the Vudu version.

Agreed. It also has a brown hue throughout the picture.

Glad I have some verification of this. It's just troubling that it changed so quickly from when it first came out. The picture 2 weeks ago was fantastic.

If anybody has 12 Years a Slave please give that a look too as it has the same problem...

You're right - looks good. Now if they could please look at 12 Years a Slave. It exhibits the same kind of washed out look...

open a ticket. That is what I did for Godzilla. Not sure if my ticket is why the title got crisp, but it couldn't hurt to do one for 12 years a slave.

                      Re: Godzilla problem

The problem with Godzilla on my first viewing was more with the sound, there was a real lack of bass and LFE.

The sound on my Blu-ray is much more dynamic and closer to the Atmos presentation I saw in the theater.

I'll have to revisit the new version released on October 16th to see if this problem has been corrected.

My daughter (in another city) also noticed the sound short-comings in the initial VUDU release.

That unfortunately isn't a problem to be corrected, but is a matter of a streaming soundtrack being highly compressed, as opposed to the lossless soundtrack found on the blu-ray...
