Re: Is Disney coming out with a bunch more Digital Copy Plus codes

With 60+ Disney titles in my DMA, I will be a very happy camper when/if this happens. What would make it even better is when/if they make their titles D2D so I can get the rest of my collection in the cloud. Then we must wait for MGM to finish and get the Bond films D2D and UV. All in good time...patience is a virtue, but I have no virtues...

I contacted their support and asked about D2D. I volunteered to ship them all my BRD & DVD for an exchange into digital. It got shot down. The response was if the title did not originally come with a digital copy, it need be purchased digitally for it to be apart of the DMA collection.

That's what really chaps my @$$ about Disney and their precious catalog. Almost every other studio releases digital copies with all their releases, but not Disney! You have to buy their extra-special sets to get most of their digital copies. Why would I spend extra money on a 3D set, when I don't have...or want...a 3D television? I have quite a few Disney Blu-Rays, but not that many digital copies besides the phase 1 Marvel films and some Pixar stuff. I only redeemed one or two on iTunes, but when they added DMA, most of the others popped up in my collection. Since they've added Vudu redemption last year, I just go with that.

I will admit, even though I am not a fan of 3D normally, Guardians of the Galaxy is the one film that I would make an exception for. That is the only film I've seen where I thought that 3D actually added to that movie experience (even though it looks great in 2D as well).

Okay I'm trying to wrap my head around all of this and please someone explain this to me in simple terms. So I have 1300 movies in Vudu currently. I also have about 20 Disney titles on the Disney Anywhere app (also playable on my Appletv). So say Disney decides to join DMA does this mean my 20 Disney movies will automatically be added to my Vudu account with me not having to do anything. Also will these titles also show up as HDX.

I understand Disney at the current time won't do D2D would be nice if they did but it would also be nice if those 20 titles were somehow able to be joined with my Vudu account. Another thing is will they or won't they be UV as my linked family members would enjoy those titles also.

I know I'm asking for the world from Disney but if they joined Vudu that would be awesome.

...right. If Vudu becomes a digital provider in the DMA systems, you will get your 20 titles after you link. If they show up as HDX depends on if they are in the DMA system as HD or not.

If or and when Vudu joins DMA you will have to link your Vudu account to DMA and then the movies you have in DMA should transfer over to Vudu. All movies in DMA from code redemptions are HD, even from old SD codes, so they should be HDX in Vudu. I believe only itunes purchases (not redemptions) that were SD are not upgraded to HD.

Disney titles will not be UV. If your family members also have AppleTVs there is an option to be signed in to 2 accounts and to switch back and forth between those accounts. You could have family members sign in to your account as one of their 2 sign ins on their AppleTV (use a temp password and require a password or PIN for purchases if you want) and they could get access this way.

I will not pay full price for a digital copy of a movie that I already own physically. Guess I'm stuck with just sticking the disc in the player. I will re-buy a physical copy that comes with a digital copy and pass my old copies down to my kids. (they make great Christmas gifts).

Well, that sticker confirms it. There is no misunderstanding the wording and the placement either. Sometime between now and December 9th, Vudu will be part of DMA. Good catch!

Also nice to see that Disney will be included with Instawatch to some degree. It's not D2D and UV support, but it's a start.

The price will have to come down significantly before I would make this purchase because they have it for $25.00 for the 3D version on A...n.

I think because it says "NEW" that it will not occur with the Maleficent release.

Thx GG. Good to know when to expect it.

Yeah, I would think it could be announced at any time, but probably not by next week. Guardians is officially released on disc on 12/9, so I'm assuming that they will announce the partnership by then.

The question is, will is be backwards compatible? Will movies that I owned on Itunes and were ported over to DMA also be ported to Vudu? Because that would be The Muppets (2011) and all the Marvel movies except Iron Man 1.

                                It looks that way.

                                In my DMA collection, I have six;
                                1. Bedtime Stories
                                2. The Chronicles Of Narnia: Prince Caspian
                                3. Oz The Great And Powerful
                                4. The Sorcerer's Apprentice
                                5. Up
                                6. WALL-E

I am expecting to get them all into Vudu once I can link the two together. Check your DMA collection. I would suspect you would get them all into Vudu too.
