it took me quite a few times to get pass the loading screen for Vudu on my Roku Ultra this morning... I also tried on my phone using my WiFi that loaded fine
it's got to be something with the Vudu Roku app

I wonder if Vudu has figured it out yet and is testing a fix cause it's not just me

I was already using OpenDNS. I have switched to Google DNS and so far haven't noticed any improvment

Could anyone experiencing app loading/slow navigation/missing data issues (and some networking knowledge) try changing their DNS as a test?

To try to give some context: we have almost entirely ruled out the app itself as an issue. This has been reported by people who have different devices/apps, ie. Roku and a smart TV that are not related code. When reported it seems to happen on multiple devices on the same network, and some have reported not seeing issues when taking the same device to another home/location.

We have also mostly ruled out Vudu server issues, since the servers never see any network connection made from the app in these cases. From logs we have seen the most common issue is a "network timeout" on some data requests.

One possible cause of these network timeouts has been found to be DNS issues. Some seem to have had issues with Google DNS, and some with others, so we haven't tracked down a single exact cause yet. But if you are using Google DNS (8.8.8.8 & 8.8.8.4) could you try switching to OpenDNS (208.67.222.222 & 208.67.220.220). Or if using another DNS from these, try switching to a different one (from an "open" one to your ISP's DNS, or vice versa).

Any feedback on improvement (or lack of) will be helpful for ongoing investigation. Thanks!

The VUDU app on the Roku has simply become unusable. Seems like it got better for a few weeks but has now become flaky and unstable. I have just gone to using the Apple TV 4K VUDU app to avoid the frustration. It's sad that they "updated" it and made a complete mess out of what was once a lovely app. Geez, just roll it back if you can't fix it.

Same thing here. I have been having issues the very day that Vudu "udpated" their theme (user interface) with Roku. I have now gotten to the point where I'm using Vudu to search and browse for movies/tv shows to rent/buy because I like there options on filters/sorting etc... but then going to my Roku box and purchasing them on the Amazon app.

This has been going on for months now for many people and Vudu or parent company Walmart either won't admit there are issues or refuse to believe it. Judging by the many posts from around the web, the customers call tech support and get NO WHERE.

I hope Vudu isn't ignoring the problem in hopes people would buy their "Vudu Spark" streaming stick.

Since the update, I've had issues on three different Rokus 3s, Roku 4 and Roku Ultra and Samsung TV. My internet is Grande 1 Gig down and 50 Meg up. I have a newer house built in 2014 that I had pre-wired with CAT 6 networking. The Roku is hardwired. I even tried wireless and that didn't help, so I't not my cabling. It's not TPLink swtich or my patch panel. The fact that they only problem that I have is with the Vudu app, then I'm lead to believe the update is the issues. The Amazon Prime Video app.... never hiccups!

I am having the same issue with the Vudu app and Roku 4.

I've had the roku 4 for about 2 years and never had a issue with the Vudu app until a couple of months ago.

Now the Vudu app is barely usable. All the other apps work fine on my Roku 4, only the Vudu app is broken.

I have hundreds of dollars invested and shows with Vudu in my collection. This is so disturbing that I will never give any money to Vudu again. I will eventually have to rebuy my shows on the different Channel.

FelipeF, I know that with my account, there is a memory leak with how many titles I own. When I have time, I will PM you all the information asked above, along with videos of the slowdown. Unfortunately for me, this slowdown is on PS3, PS4, and Roku. I've been encountering this for months, but have needed the right motivation to approach the topic. Seeing that others are having problems, it seems the best time to bring it up. Again though, I will be capturing recordings for reference and getting them to you soon.
Please PM me that info when you have a chance, much appreciated.
