All day with the buffering, can't watch any of my movies

However, Netflix and Amazon are streaming fine.
Does this happen very often? I am really rethinking this method of watching.

      Hello and welcome.

Good question. Vudu uses more downstream throughput then the other services.

In my home, I have cable internet. I bought my own cable modem and for 50Mbps service, I pay $64.99 per month.

On the weekends, it is not uncommon for there to be four TVs streaming.

The good thing is the Vudu app has a built in speed test to validate what downstream you are currently getting and what playback quality is recommend.

Best wishes. Hope it gets worked out. For me, I almost never have buffering problems. It has been several months since I can remember an occurrence.

We got new Comcast Xfinity ISP and can't watch without buffering and downgrade of video quality. My Speed Test result is awful. Using speedtest.vudu.com we only get 753 kbps Download and 5650 kbps Upload.

However, using www.speedtest.net we get 26.04 Mbps Download and 6.19 Mbps Upload.

Should we also call VUDU support or Comcast? Thanks.

I don't think it is Comcast..see my comment from a different thread...

"Since last night, I can not stream Vudu using my Roku3. It keeps buffering, even at SD, and comes up eventually saying network error.

I used Vudu's Network Speed Test, it says can not complete due to network error.

I called my cable provider, they said there was no issues with my modem or signal.

Target plays my HD Ultraviolet movies fine...no issues. My speed test on my laptop is also fine, but yet Vudu is even having issues playing across my laptop.

Of course, I paid for a season pass of Z Nation with Vudu and I still have not been able to watch the most recent episode due to this."

And I have 50 mbps service, btw

Now all of a sudden it seems to be working...

A little disconcerting that it can come and go for no reason .. a lot of different people have had the same issue at various times. Is Vudu going to correct whatever is causing their system to act like this?

Don't you realize that this is never Vudu's fault. They always say contact Vudu so they can fix "your" problem. Granted over the years there have been many, many, many, many posts of people getting awesome service from their isp's and other network providers but yet Vudu has had this issue for years and it's always our fault.

C'mon get with the program Vudu never has issues.

              Yes this is called sarcasm.

if what you are suggesting is true, then EVERYBODY streaming from Vudu in the location you are streaming from would have the same choke point causing problems.

I do not think that is the case. I work in carrier networking and I do not believe the problem is in the peering interconnections or Vudu's interconnections to their tier-1 providers. Instead, I would almost gurentee the problem is in your ISPs network.

Their is a program called MTR which will help identify where on a network path a choke point exists, if you care to investigate.

Thanks for your input...but I disagree.

First, you are assuming automatically that no one else in the area had the same issue. So how do you arrive at that? First, the area I live in is not real "tech savvy", so very few probably use Ultraviolet or Vudu to begin with. But, even those that do, what makes you think they are going to come onto the forums here and comment about it? The active posters here on the site represent a very, very small percentage of users. I would think that most people probably email their issues.

I find it impossible to be the ISP's fault that I couldn't even stream a SD movie from Vudu on Roku3, but yet be able to stream a HD movie from Target using my Roku3 AND do a massive binary download with my laptop at the same time.

When you read through the various threads here, this has been going on since 2012. People everywhere have had constant buffering issues with Vudu while other streaming services worked fine.

So you're telling me all those ISP were having issues that targeted JUST Vudu.....no..I don't believe that.

And again, I called my ISP. My system was working perfectly.

I even ran multiple speed tests..all were popping at top speed and no issues.

The only speed test I ran that failed was the one built in to the Vudu Roku app.

MTR will answer your question. I place low odds on the hop of contention being with the Tier-1 provider Vudu uses or with the Vudu point of egress/ingress. Almost certenly, it will be within your ISPs network where the layer three hop hits contention or with one of their interconnection providers to Tier-one.

When I say EVERYONE in the area, I mean like the whole east coast. Not just a town. Hope you get it worked out.

This is really crazy! After ready your post "it seems to be working" I try again this morning. Now speedtest.vudu.com gives me:

                        23344 Mbps download
                        5842 kbps upload

I did a search for MTR and didn't find much except that it's like traceroute which I used several years ago at work like 'ping'. A website might help a little if there is such a best that will help us catch where the bandwidth problems might be?
