    8 Device Limitation

    VUDU currently has a limit of 8 devices which can be activated on an account. In today's rich techno environment, most people albeit most family homes have far more than 8 devices being used. The only way I can get all of my devices activated in my home is to set up two different VUDU accounts and share/link them, and when I do that, there are movies that aren't available to be viewed because of digital rights and other issues (Disney, etc.).

    Can VUDU increase the device limit to something more reasonable like 12 - 15 devices? It's annoying when you want to watch a movie and then have to go to another room on another TV to view it because of the device limit.

    If you don't already have shared accounts, you are out of luck. That feature has been taken away.

      This restriction comes from the movie studios and our agreement with them.

        This restriction sucks...tvs, game consols, tablets and smartphones. 8 licenses goes pretty quick. Would be nicer if I could access my titles from any device I own anytime with no issues. Hell...gimme 30 day 2 factor authentication or atleast lift the cap to 12 (3 devices per family member)

          I agree with the original post. With 4 Smart TVs + Ruku (wife prefers Ruku interface).. and one smart phone, I have to juggle devices. At leat my son and I were able to share libraries before 11/2017 so that helps a bit.

            While I certainly respect VUDU has to comply with the studios, as the studios pretty much hold all of the cards, I have to say this to the studios, by proxy of the VUDU forums;

            If you want us to pay FULL PRICE for digital rights to these media, in today's climate of multiple digital devices per person/family, you better remember that physical media can be played on UNLIMITED devices, and pretty soon more and more people are going to catch on to your charade. In my house alone, I have three TVs, a PS4, a Sony BR and Streaming Player, two iPhones, an iPad, three laptops, and possibly more on the way, between two people. When I "buy" the rights to these movies, I expect to be able to watch them on ANY one of those devices in my household without having to log in and juggle my "allowed devices". The lack of NA 3D releases has already driven me back to physical for that niche, I'm not afraid to go all the way.

              I couldn't agree more. We have four kids and TONS of devices. 1 Smart TV, 1 Roku, 1 PS4, 1 Xbox 360, 3 Xbox Ones, 6 Tablets, 4 Smart Phones, 3 Laptops, 1 PC, and more I'm sure I'm forgetting.

              We're constantly swapping out devices in the device manager. It's a PITA. What I don't get is that we can swap devices by removing devices from the device manager and just adding new devices, so why not just raise the limit? We can basically exceed the limit anyhow, but just with a completely unnecessarily inconvenient step.

              And just to reiterate the point, there's no limit to how many players I can put in my physical discs in.

                For anyone bumping into the 8 device limit, if you have the vudu windows 10 app installed, uninstall it. Remove any devices listed that are computers. Don't reinstall the windows 10 app. Ran into a problem with the windows 10 app being counted as 2 devices against my 8 limit.

                  It appears the limit isn't 8 anymore, I have 11 devices, someone posted they're up to 13 devices.

                    Could someone from VUDU officially confirm...

                    I had to call VUDU for an unrelated issue.

                    While on with them, I asked about this device limit. The rep said you can now have 8 hardware devices (Roku, Smart TV, Fire Stick, Gaming systems) PLUS 10 software devices (phones and tablets basically).

                    He said occasionally some less popular hardware devices will accidentally count as a software device.
