Vudu app coming to Tivo Roamio and Tivo Mini

Apparently, Vudu has been busy working on a Vudu app for the TiVo Roamio and Mini.

It's also supposed to come to the TiVo Premiers next year but I won't use it for Vudu. It's just so slow for Netflix, it's probably going to be as slow for Vudu as it is for Netflix so I always use a different device.

Thanks for the information everyone! I am thinking about getting the tivo roamio, so I would appreciate any reports on how it performs with the vudu app. Does the app look the same as the one on the PS3? Is it fast enough?

I have only used it last night, but I have not come across any bugs. The interface is the same as the PS3 and PS4. The performance is right on par with my PS4. So much so that I will no longer use my PS4 for VUDU. I like the TiVo remote better than the PS4 controller as well. It will be easier for my parents to use when they come over.

I would recommend getting a roamio. My father in-law liked mine so much he bought one for himself too. The interface is the best in the business and it just got better with the VUDU app.

I am now getting rid of my PS3 as I mostly used that VUDU anyway.

I have owned my Roamio Pro for over a year now, and love it. The Vudu app works great, and now I don't have to wear out my PS3 watching my movies. We watched a couple movies last night and no problems either.

This is great news! I would really like to have both the Vudu app and Amazon streaming on my DVR. Now I just need to figure out how to get out of my contract with Dish and switch to Comcast so that I can use a Roamio DVR. I know Directv will sometimes pay the penalty for getting out of the contract early, but I have not heard of Comcast offering that. But I may try.

I checked my Tivo's last night and they were both sitting at ver 20.4.4a...just below the v20.4.5 required for the Vudu app. Tried forcing an update, but no joy. It may be because both boxes are supplied by my cable co, but I don't know. I may have to wait a bit to see if they automatically update and add the app. Fingers crossed...

That's most likely the issue as the specific cable companies have a say (or control) on when a new version is rolled out on cable owned Tivo boxes.

Well, my version updated to v20.4.5c-01-6-D18 but no Vudu app on the box. Guess my cable co wants me to pay for viewing instead of letting me stream thru their box. Shame.

Comment: I don't know what app or hardware users are using to access VUDU to complain about the slow interface on the TIVO Roamio and Mini devices.. it is cleaner and faster than any of the other four devices that I have for streaming! (DLink, Sony Media, Sony Blu-Ray, XBox)

I was pleasantly surprised - the Roamio vudu app has the same interface I am used to but is a bit snappier than my other devices!
