Promotional Credits - Charged CC Instead of Using Credits ? ? ?

So I wanted to make some purchased and noticed I had some promotional credits in my account I wanted to use.

After making the purchases I noticed that my Promotional Credits were the same. I checked my Credit Card and it was charged !?!?!

If you have credits in your account they should be used by Vudu FIRST.

When it goes to charge it should state the method that is being used before completing.

I still have the unused Credits in my account and now I don't know if I can use them or not because I don't want to pick them getting charged again instead.

    Thoughts ? ??

Yes, unless you're E-Gifting something. If you're E-Gifting, it will charge your credit card regardless of it there are credits in there or not. If you're not E-Gifting, then yes it's not working correctly and you may need to contact Vudu's support team.

So when I look at Sept the credits were applied to purchases, INCLUDING eGift purchhases. But in Oct the credits were NOT applied to eGift purchases.

A purchase is a purchase there should be NO difference.

Likewise IF there was a change in policy to not allow credits to be applied to eGift purchases I have to question the legality. Further if the credits were applied to the account BEFORE any changes in policy then they should not be effected, especially if written notice was not provided in advance and with an acceptable grace period.

There would appear to several possible legal questions here.

When you check out, it clearly shows whether or not the credit is going to be applied. How about you pay attention?

How about you keep it civil and helpful in the SUPPORT forum? Even if the OP looked at that before checking out, they still have a question/issue about whether credits can be used for eGifts, and why it may have been inconsistent between last month and this month.

I don't think it's a legal issue, though, since many retailers will allow store credit to be used for merchandise but not gift cards. The real issue is that, ideally, policies should be clear, consistent, and communicated effectively, and it sounds like VUDU may need to work on at least one of those with respect to how credits are applied.

This policy was implemented to prevent abuse. There were people creating additional Vudu accounts and loading them up with Vudu credits to bypass the vudu credit limits per account. They would then E-gift themselves titles to their main account effectively making the limits per Vudu credit limitless. I agree with what they did -- they could not allow this abuse.

iTunes e-gifting is also charged to credit cards even if credit from gift cards is available to use.
