Thank you for the update. Are you working with Sony and Lionsgate?

      That's not what I mean. I mean 1080p upconverts. Not 2k upconverts.

Is there any reason why the Vudu apps on Sony 4K TV's haven't been updated to allow for HDR10 playback?

I really don't want to buy a Roku for watching the relatively few number of UHD titles I own on Vudu. I can stream UHD films on Amazon with my Sony TV which is practically useless since all my MA UHD titles have transferred to Amazon in HD only. If Amazon allows 4K streaming on practically any device, so should Vudu. Can't stream them in UHD on Fandangonow either. I'd change my mind about buying another device if Vudu offered free upgrades like Apple does, even though it shouldn't be necessary.

Always the studios fault. Would be ideal to show solidarity and work with the studio to ensure that the consumer has the products that they are seeking

He was referring to Sony TVs. We have to wait for Sony's Android O update before they will support Vudu UHD. Honestly our UHD Android TV app has been ready to go for months...

I was able to do what they call a "side load" of the Vudu app on my Sony Bravia and Vudu UHD/HDR works on it now. I didn't have to wait for Sony to do whatever update they need to do.

The only feasible option at this point to stream Vudu 4K HDR on a Sony TV is a Roku. Jake just told us in a subsequent post that Sony Android TV's will require the Oreo version. Sony just updated to Nougat so who knows when Oreo will come. Also I like the UI for the Roku Ultra much better than the Android which is buggy, slow, and less responsive.

Terminator 2 judgement day , Warm bodies ,Cabin in the woods , Snitch , Valerian and the city of a thousand planets , Huger games 1,3 and 4 and Batman : Gotham By gaslight. Also somebody take the lead to fix the Disney 4k problem because MA has no desire to fix it. And don't say Disney doest give 4k codes because they did with Vol 2 and pirates

How so? Sony released their DV update (in the US). Last I heard from someone official on these forums, once that happened Vudu was going to release an Android TV app to the Google Play Store. As far as I?m aware, that doesn?t involve Sony at all.

                      Here?s the post from Jake:

Android 7.0 has system level support for HDR (HDR10, HLG and Dolby Vision), so I don?t know why Vudu requires Android O (8.0), which Sony hasn?t even announced that they will ever update to.

The Nvidia Shield isn?t running Android O yet, yet it has Vudu UHD HDR.

Many of the titles listed in this forum will be available soon.
We know getting 4K available on the same date as release for digital or disc is extremely important. Unfortunately, many times things can go wrong from the technology, process, quality control or studio approval, or other standpoints that delay release. Unfortunately, more than you'd expect, we have no control over those factors.

Thank you all, though, for staying with Vudu, on top of things, and sharing your frustrations. Your feedback is noticed and does help us keep us (and our partners) focused.
Appreciate taking the time to engage and acknowledge the issue and customer frustration.

However, this part isn't at all accurate: "Unfortunately, many times things can go wrong from the technology, process, quality control or studio approval, or other standpoints that delay release. Unfortunately, more than you'd expect, we have no control over those factors."

I can't even image how quick our customers would have fired us if I or one of our account managers ever told them something along those lines. You have 100% control over your technology, process, quality control and most if not all of all 'other standpoints'. If titles aren't up due to any of those issues it is 100% on Vudu to fix the problem and ensure it doesn't happen again. If it is an issue where you are blaming the Studio for not giving Vudu the right video formats or doing so on time, that is still 100% on your team to correct the situation at hand and fix the issue with the partner that lead to it so it doesn't happen again. We are talking about titles that others have up and streaming that Vudu doesn't so any of these issues wouldn't be on anyone else but Vudu.
As for the 'studio approval', the only semi-legitimate limitation as the only thing not 100% in your control, it is still primarily on Vudu as it is on your team to get the deals signed (deals that the others are getting done) that get the content here.

So call out the studio issues/negotiations, etc that you are working on. Hell call out Apple or whomever is negotiating contracts that makes things great for folks locked into their ecosystem them but ****ty for everyone else. Call out whatever the studio or other BS is that is making UHD streaming rights so different and f'd compared to HD. But please don't ever claim the cop-out that it is all due to not having control over the factors as to why competitors are selling and streaming UHD content but you're not. It isn't correct and really only would serve to tell people that VUDU can't be trusted to be a leader again as they are just a leaf in the wind while the others demonstrate control of their streaming business.

It's not about HDR support - the current Vudu app on Sony TVs is not an Android TV app, it's a "native" app built into the firmware. This native app will be removed and replaced with the Android TV app, but of course this requires new firmware. This was planned for February, but apparently has been delayed. We are now evaluating ways to get the new app out to customers ASAP while providing a good customer experience. We want this out as much as you do!

Sony had announced that all 2015 and later Android TV's were going to be updated to version N. They recently accomplished this. There have been no subsequent announcements regarding future updates.
