Constant buffering issues on Nvidia Shield TV

Ever since we got the new native app/interface on the Nvidia Shield TV, I have had many problems.

First, constant buffering no matter what the quality. My internet speed is 100mbps, I am hardwired and have no issues with any other app on the Nvidia Shield and no issues with Vudu on my Roku. Even brand new movies are buffering. Jumanji :Welcome to the Jungle froze 5 different times last night.
    .
Second, App crashing...The app crashes upon opening 75% of the time. A minor inconvenience but still an inconvenience.

and Third, as mentioned by another forum member, the movies and shows are much darker now and harder to see.

Vudu needs a serious app update on the Shield, and quick. The old app worked flawlessly.

    Thanks for reading.

I 100% hear you, I too am having the streaming problems with every UHD title in my library old and new, HDR no HDR, ATMOS no ATMOS. Even having the problem with HDX which I had to switch to while watching Jumaji. This issue is infuriating as it been going on for at least a month. I opened a support ticket and got back typical canned bs response...uninstall,..make sure things are updated, blah, blah. I next called Vudu support and we set the Shield TV to static up and pointed DNS to Google and this did not help at all. I took it once step further and used my Asus router to monitor traffic lice on the phone and you can clearly see traffic bouncing all over the place then it just goes to idle...then buffering starts. I did this on several movies and added screen shots to the ticket. I spend a boat load of money on Vudu this MUST be fixed ASAP. I am paying for movies I can't watch. I have the hardware for 4k, HDR, and ATMOS I expect to be able to watch what I paid for.

I am having the same issues, started about a month or 2 ago. I have opened up a support ticket and have followed up with phone call with live network statisics while stream UHD and HDX, as this issue happens on both video types. A few things were found while monitoring one is that Vudu download stream is much night than their recommended speed of 22mb. I have seem a 70mb dl at times and it's not constant the stream goes high then idle and repeated until it stays at idle. This behavior was seen on everything movie I have played. Vudu stated the problem is on their side and are working on the issue...been working on it for over a month...not acceptable. I want to play the movies back I paid for which is UHD, HDR-10, and Dolby Atmos. This issue needs to be fixed ASAP.

This is happening to me as well over the past couple of months.(VUDU Shield app) Tried to watch Shape of Water last night--paid for HDX; had to watch in SD as the buffer notice came up 5 or 6 times. It is not my internet speed. No problems with any other streaming service on the Shield. We rented a UHD film last week on Vudu--same problem; paid for UHD-had to watch it in HDX and SD.

The irony is the built in "speed tool" in vudu states I should be using UHD based on my speed.
Vudu used to be the best of all the streaming services in my opinion and has gone downhill recently. (About the same time they changed their "look".

I just finished watching 30 minutes of a UHD/HDR movie from Vudu on my Shield TV. I had no issues. It started at one Bar UHD and ramped up to four bars UHD within five seconds. And stayed there the entire time I watched.

Same exact issue as the original poster. Note -I have a TiVo with the Vudu app that does not have issues.
The Nvidia shield is the only appliance that exhibits these issues i.e. crashes frequently when opening, buffering, etc. I have a gig internet connection, have it hardwired, static, pointing to Google dns. I have over 150 purchased hdx movies and this is unacceptable.

I'm having the same issue on nvidia shield. Constant buffering even if I switch to sd . My temporary fix for this issue was to link my movies in vudu to Amazon video and have been able to watch all my movies with no buffer at all. Please vudu fix this issue I have been a customer for many years.

Still have buffering issues. It's not me or my internet or my nvidia shield, it is the vudu app itself. As proven by the other users having the same issue. Please look into fixing this asap

I just bought 3 NVIDIA Shield TV 2017 models on Prime Day and Vudu is the only app I'm having streaming issues with. I have Gigabit Cable, that consistently speed tests to 800 to 1000mbps to all major Internet backbones in my area. I also have 4 different Roku devices that streamed UHD Vudu Content without issue since 4K content started to drop on Vudu. It also streams flawlessly on 2 XBox One Xs in the Vudu app.

Could someone from Vudu chime in on the nature of this bug, is there a workaround, and when we might see a fix for this? I left Roku because they broke 5.1 Audio in their 8.1 Software release, and now the Vudu issues in Shield have me contemplating returning 3 of them. Someone please help us out here.

Does anyone know of a way to downgrade to the old Vudu App that worked? Or a way to sideload a different APK?

                  Thanks,
                  Sincerely,
                  Vudu Customer for life.

I stopped using the Vudu app on the Shield because I've had issues with buffering (even on HD titles) recently. Something broke with the version 7 Shield update or on a recent Vudu app update.

I'm on the latest UI and OS for Shield. The bug persists. Could Vudu weigh in please? I'd rather not have to use multiple media players just to have a working Vudu app.
