    "Vudu-vangelist"

Not since Tivo (which I still have and love) have I had the excitement from a CE device like I have with Vudu. I really wanted to with HD DVD, but the format war ruined that. I also tried to do the same with BluRay, but hangover from the format war (being on the wrong side) and prices, disc compatibility issues, etc nixed that.

Vudu, OTOH, is another one of those CE items that I think has the ability to change my CE life for the better- especially for an AV enthusiast like me where Vido and Audio quality is important. No more trips to Blockbuster, no more trying to make sure that the new releases are at the top of my queue at Netflix and potentially no more disc "collecting". I use the term loosely since many of the discs were not collected as much as purchased on a whim and never watched again after the first viewing.

I literally have a several-thousand movie "collection" now that I can access whenever I want and a computer program to sort them and browse them. not to mention a media server to store them and make them available without going to a shelf, finding them and putting them into the player.

Thanks Vudu, I think you saved me a ton of future dollars, which is important in this economy.

I just need to figure out how to be the evangelist for Vudu that I was for Tivo for so many years...suggestions?

If you want to spread the word just get a few friends round for beer / movies / pizza and have a few HDX movies queued up. Most people don't expect a download to be as good as Vudu can deliver and will be somewhere between surprised by the quality. Show them the browser too, that usually sells most folks.

To bad we didn't have you a year ago when there was a real evangelist program!

Anyhow, the best way to do it is to show your friends. To that end, Vudu does have a travel case you can purchase so you can safely tote your Vudu from place to place.

Also, participate in other online discussions, reviews, etc. Try to talk it up online as much as possible everywhere you can.

I am all over the travel setup as we have a condo that we go to several times a year. I can take it there with me instead of loading up a bunch of discs (I also don't have a Blu Ray player there and last year couldn't take many of my newer purchases with me anyway since they were HD Discs). And, the size of the Vudu box means I can use it in the car on the way.

I can use it if I "rent" the movie and download it before leaving, correct? Or, can I only watch owned content when not connected to a network?

Correct. Any content on the box can be watched w/o a network connection. Just beware that once a movie is started, the 24 hour rental clock begins and you'll be unable to extend that rental w/o a connection.

Also, if you use it in the car, just be VERY careful to make sure the box is well protected. The hard drive in the Vudu is not a laptop hard drive and as such is not really designed to be used in environments where there is a lot of physical movement while the disk is running.
