D2D Titles Added Away From VUDU?

I want to use my Vudu account exclusively to stream. There are a few titles that aren't eligible for Vudu D2D conversion at home or in store that I've noticed are available for D2D from Flixter. If I add a UV eligible title through Flixter, will it show up in my Vudu account? And if I've selected "HD" from them, will I get 1080p HDX from Vudu, or just 720p?

    TIA

As long as it's a UV title, D2D from Flixster will show up in Vudu, and yes, HD from Flixster gets you HDX from Vudu.

Not a problem. I've actually found that some of my 'flippers' that vudu D2D won't recognize are successful using Flixster (even if it's more expensive). Beats carrying the discs into Wal-Mart.

Unfortunately it's not 100% the case like the poster above said. It has to be available on Vudu and UV on Vudu for it to port. Most movies will port but there are a few that may not. If you want to be sure just search Vudu first and make sure the movie shows up and has a UV symbol on it. For the longest time there were a bunch of Anchor Bay movies you could D2D via other programs but not Vudu and they would not show up because they were not UV on Vudu. The movie Bully did not show up on Vudu for me for about 6 months when Vudu got UV rights.

So, I just tried D2D @ Flixter with Cloud Atlas and saw their HD price for the first time of $5

Guess I'll just wait for these titles to come to Vudu. Sorry for wasting everyone's time... I knew Flixter was more than Vudu, but $2 vs. $5

That's why I'm waiting until eitehr Vudu fixes their disc title mapping or ends their 50% off sale to take those titles that haven't worked with VuduToGo either to a Walmart (ick) or another home D2D service. For now I can always watch the discs, but I refuse to pay twice as much or more for the EXACT same thing...oh, but with much worse customer service.

Max, is it simply a case of a "mapping" problem? I'd take Cloud Atlas to Wally World (I've actually had very good luck with this on dozens of conversions that in home D2D wouldn't handle), but even though it does show up on Vudu for a rental/purchase, it does not show up as available for a D2D or in store conversion. I just assumed that for some reason Flixter had the D2D rights where as Vudu did not.

Oh, I had skipped over that part, I was thinking about discs that should work on VuduToGo but give errors, but yes, my answer stays the same, I'll still wait until Vudu's 50% off deal ends before I'll try using any other service. They might get added before then, you never know, and there's no reason I can't watch my discs until then. (Heck, if I'm sick of changing discs I could start ripping movies to my Plex Media Server, but my first priority is ripping TV shows, because it saves a lot of time and trouble when binge-watching, especially if you switch TVs/devices.)

Unless I'm missing something (and maybe I am...), even without the Vudu 50% off, Vudu is $2 for BD>HDX, and Flixter is $5 BD>HD, correct? And yes, it's a PITA to go in store to convert, but with the number of discs I have that aren't "in home" D2D, it's worth the trip

It's worth the trip if your Wal-Mart works. Once they convert over the the Fuji system, say good-bye to in-store conversion as well.

I have heard that Walmart Stores IT is finally working on fixing this (and may have in individual stores). I don't know much else about it, though. Once we hear it's been fixed for all stores we'll update this thread...

For me it kind of depends on the movie. My general rule is to wait it out with VUDU. Having said that, I have a few DVDs that VUDU only would convert in SD (all it has available on the site) but other services allow conversions to HD. For most of these, I still prefer to wait on VUDU, but for the few I would like to see now I use another service to convert to HD.

You make an interesting point here... To clarify, if Vudu only offers the movie in SD, but you purchase the UV eligible movie in HD from a third party, are you saying the HD version will be accessible through Vudu, or must you watch through the third party's platform to get HD?
