          Re: The interview

They just announced that The Interview will be available on VOD, and that they are in talks with providers. I certainly hope VUDU will take up the call, and screen this as one of their early release titles!!!!

Please VUDU show us that you will support this film!

            Re: The interview

I'm wondering why Vudu doesn't have this available and let their competitor, Google, have this available before them. Seems like the service is slipping.

Seriously? You've got to be kidding me.

First of all, this isn't a normal release, deals for this title were brokered individually, and directly with Sony. On top of it, Sony Pictures even tried to get the President and the White House to help broker a deal with VOD providers because the VOD providers are not so inclined to run any risks.

Even Apple turned this down for iTunes, which probably makes a lot of sense considering the hackers that caused this mess in the first place will probably turn their attention to whatever VOD service carries and/or allows the film to be purchased and/or rented.

It would be a giant headache for any company to carry this and then risk having day to day or business operations halted due to possible future cyber attacks.

For more information, check out this article about Apple turning Sony down:

                http://www.theverge.com/2014/12/24/7...view-on-itunes

In addition, the funny part to me is Sony offered this on the XBOX store, but Sony themselves, are not even putting it up for sale or rent on their own PSN Network, which obviously goes to show how they feel about the risks and potential future problems it could cause them.

                  No, I'm not kidding.

By not carrying this movie all these companies are allowing the hackers to win who are silencing freedom of speech. All this has done is allow these, and other potential, hackers to see that they can cause companies to bend to their demands. Incidents like this will just increase because they have now seen that they can instill fear into these corporations and/or individuals.

I very much agree, but this has nothing to do with the comment you made about Vudu's service slipping. You don't even know if they were given the option to carry the film or not, so to criticize them and say their service is slipping is completely unfounded.

I think you misunderstand "Freedom of Speech." The government is not preventing distribution of the movie. In fact, Obama himself said that the studios shouldn't cave into Korea the way they did. The government can no more prevent Sony from releasing the film than they can force them to release the film.

My point is that the hackers have effectively censored a film because they didn't want it released and essentially have forced their will onto others.

Adrock, that part was a friendly jab at Vudu and I guess I should have used the . It wasn't meant to be hateful. Regardless, Vudu is still my favorite service and I hate to see them beat to the punch by one of their competitors.
